'Law & Order: Organized Crime' Premiere Date Revealed along with News of SVU Crossover Episode

The "Law & Order: SVU" Instagram page released the premiere date for the organized crime show, which will continue Elliot's Stabler's story.

Fans of the beloved crime drama can start their countdown for April 1st as the NBC show is set to premiere with Meloni rejoining the cast.

Meloni's character retired after 12 seasons on the show, which led to his partner Olivia Benson, played by Mariska Hargitay, heading the whole division.

The new season will give audiences a look into what Stabler has been up to, how he has been during his retirement, and him rejoining the NYPD with an organized crime unit.

The show's official logline says he returns to the police department after a "devastating personal loss." He will begin to piece life back together as he joins the task force with plans to dismantle the city's biggest crime syndicate.

The beloved show's fans will be excited to see Meloni after his return was postponed as writers had to change things around.

Meloni and his co-star Hargitay recently posted photos to Instagram from their time during the crossover shooting. It featured a few selfies of them together.

The two police force members' reunion is a big deal for the SVU universe. Meloni left the show after negotiations for his contract came to a standstill.

His character's retirement from the police force was completely off-screen between the seasons. The 13th season showed a devastated Benson learning that her partner had left without saying goodbye.

Fans shared their excitement for Meloni's return in the comment section of the NBC SVU Instagram page. Many wrote that they would be counting down till April 1st.

Of course, the beloved show's fans will be excited to see Meloni after his return was postponed as writers had to change things around after the show's front runner, Matt Olmstead, left the show.

Other NBC shows that are being scheduled include "Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist," which is said to start in Spring. "Good Girls" and "Manifest" will be returning for new seasons.
