Shakira Goes Red with Hair Color and Reminds Fans So Much of Her 2000s Looks
Musician Shakira is going through a season of change, as seen with her new social media posts. The star uploaded a video and a photo of herself rocking a hair color that is a throwback from the 2000s.
Everyone needs change every once in a while, and this isn’t different for celebrities. In 2002, Shakira, now-44, stunned her fans when she changed her hair color to a gorgeous red shade.
At the time, the star used her look to cover her “Grandes Exitos” album. In a recent post, one fan also recalled the hair color change as the one the singer wore during her 1999 "MTV Unplugged" performance.
Another fan commented below the star's posts about the new look. The follower wrote, “Hermosa #flashback to 1998,” the word “Hermosa” means gorgeous in Spanish.
The singer brought on the approving comments by bringing the red hair look back. Last Friday, she uploaded an Instagram photo of herself posing while showing off her perfectly dyed red hair.
She also shared a short Twitter and Instagram video where she was seen combing out and hair drying her hair while talking to the camera. The singer brought back the look to promote her latest single, “Girl like Me.”
The track, which played in the clip's background, is in collaboration with the Black Eyed Peas. The Colombian singer captioned the post, writing “surprise” to stun her fans with her new look.
Most of her fans know that she favors the color blonde for her look. However, once in a while, she changes things up a bit, whether it’s by making her blonde hair into curls or adding black highlights in it.
She normally prefers to have long hair, but sometimes she’ll go for a short pixie look. Shakira pulled this off in 2002 when she cut her hair short and also made her blonde hair lighter in shade.
For instance, in 2003, the Latina singer showed up at a UNICEF event with a deep side-part and waves. Her hair had brownish highlights that started off darker in her roots and became lighter as they moved down.
She’s also had bangs and brunette shoulder-length curls. Some fans might recall how she showed off her natural brunette curls at the 2006 Premio Lo Nuestro Awards in Miami.
Besides changing her hair color this month, Shakira actually celebrated her 44th birthday on February 2, 2021. The Latin Grammy Award winner was born and raised in Barranquilla, Colombia.
The “Whenever, Wherever” vocalist started dating Barcelona Football Club star Gerard Pique in 2011. The couple isn’t married but live together in Spain and share two sons, Milan and Sasha.
