Over the past few years, fans of "Alaskan Bush People" have watched Billy go in and out of the hospital as he struggled with several medical issues.

Though it was initially believed that Billy's declining health stemmed from respiratory issues, doctors would later diagnose him with a weak heart and advised that he leave the mountain.

Billy and his wife Ami have starred in "Alaskan Bush People" alongside their seven children since 2014.

According to the doctors, the high altitude on the mountain where he lived with his family would only worsen his health, so moving elsewhere was suggested.

However, Billy refused to take the doctor's advice, stating that he would rather die on the mountain than anywhere else. Despite his family's attempt at convincing him, he refused to move.

Taking proactive steps, before he returned from his last hospital visit, Billy's children dragged their parents' trailer to a lower terrain in a bid to help improve his health.

While Billy's death is indeed a rude shock, this is not the first time his family is experiencing heartbreak in recent years. In 2017, Ami was diagnosed with lung cancer, which she battled with for a while.

However, by 2018, she was declared cancer-free after undergoing a series of treatments for the disease. As expected, this was great news for the Browns.
