MEET HIS SONS AND FAMILY
Holt has two sons, Stefan and Cameron, with his longtime wife, Carol. His first son Stefan was born in 1987 and followed in his father’s career path. He is an NBC news anchor. He once worked in the Chicago branch, anchoring the NBC 5 News Today.
Cameron, on the other hand, works for the famous Morgan Stanley as an Equity Options Trader. He studied at Stanford University and interned at CNCB for a while. Cameron currently lives in New York and has two rescue dogs.
Lester and Carol first crossed paths in 1980 when she was a flight attendant. At the time, the iconic news anchor was a student who worked partly as a DJ. After two years of dating, the duo tied the knot in 1982 and have been together since.
Lester got his first broadcasting job as a teenager at a local radio station in Sacramento.
LESTER IS A PROUD GRANDFATHER OF TWO
Lester and Carol became grandparents for the first time in 2017 when Stefan and his wife Morgan welcomed a son named Henry. Two years later, the “Dateline NBC” host became a grandfather again when Stefan gave birth to baby Samuel.
In 2019, the boys visited their famous grandfather on the set of “Nightly News.” The doting grandfather shared heartwarming photos from the visit that showed the young boys all over the grandpa in his office before he headed out to the studio.
SAMUEL RECOGNIZED LESTER ON TV
Earlier this month, Lester’s 21-month-old grandson made headlines when he sweetly recognized his granddad on television. The 61-year-old shared a heartwarming video of Samuel in his mother’s arms while they watched the news.
On seeing his grandfather, the adorable toddler blushed sweetly before excitedly repeating his cute nickname for Lester, “grandude.” In the caption of the clip, Lester described it as the best day ever.
HIS CAREER
Lester got his first broadcasting job as a teenager at a local radio station in Sacramento. He was in charge of covering the fire and police beat. After his wedding, he moved to New York for a job with the city’s television station.
After the network offered him less money, he moved to Chicago and spent 14 years. It was there he heard about an opening at MSNBC, and he joined the network in 2000. His career took a turn for the better, and it has been on a great path ever since.
