Her Royal Highness and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, welcomed their first child on February 9, 2021. She shared adorable photos of the family of 3 on Instagram soon after he was born.
The couple introduced their sweet boy with a photo where Brooksbank wore a blue sweater to match his baby's blue blanket. Eugenie glowed in a cream-colored dress and yellow headband.
Eugenie used the post to thank all of those who sent well wishes and congratulated the couple. The new mom wrote that their hearts were full of love as she wrote:
"Our hearts are full of love for this little human, words can't express. We are excited to be able to share these photos with you."
The parents announced their son's full name in the post, August Philip Hawke Brooksbank. The royals are known to give their children names that have family significance.
August's name is very special as it honors 3 different relatives. Two from his mother's family and one from his dad. The breakdown of his name starts with his first name.
It is so special that both sides of the family are represented.
August actually belongs to an important figure from his mother's family tree. The name is from Queen Victoria’s husband, Prince Albert, whose full name is Francis Albert Augustus Charles Emmanuel.
Eugenie shared that her son is named after his great grandfather and 5x great grandfathers, which will be explained below. She shared in an Instagram story:
"On his grandfather's birthday weekend, thinking of my grandfather, we are introducing our little boy."
Philip's second name is an obvious nod to his great grandfather and Eugenie's grandfather, The Prince of Edinburgh, Prince Phillip. Eugenie's dad, Prince Andrew, is his son.
His third name Hawke is from the Brooksbank family tree and was his 5x grandfather, Rev. Edward Hawke Brooksbank. It is so special that both sides of the family are represented.
On February 9, Eugenie shared a black and white photo of August's hand being held by his parents to announce his birth. Almost two weeks later, they shared his full name.
Jack and Eugenie announced they were expecting by sharing a photo of a pair of fluffy baby animal slippers. The caption read that they were excited for early 2021.
