Sasha Alexander Celebrates Her Age-Defying Mom's Birthday with a Lovely Tribute

“Rizzoli & Isles” star Sasha Alexander recently marked another of her mother's milestones, taking to Instagram to gush about the age-defying woman who gave her life on her birthday.

47-year-old actress Sasha Alexander recently celebrated another birthday of her beloved mother. She marked the occasion on social media with a couple of snapshots taken during what looks like a family vacation.

On March 5, 2021, Alexander took to her Instagram account to post a two-image slideshow that pictured her mother wearing a bikini and large sunglasses as she stood on a beach next to a camel ridden by a child.

The second slide shows Alexander’s mother wearing a colorful, long dress as she sits on a wall at night with a big smile and with the beach and some boats as a background. The actress wrote in the post’s caption:

“Happy Birthday to my awesome mama who loves taking pictures in bikinis with camels. May we all look and feel as good as you at every age. We love you!”

The post was well-received among Alexander’s many fans, with nearly 10,000 likes and several congratulatory comments directed at the mother and daughter in the comments section.

“Happy birthday to your beautiful Mama. She’s gorgeous,” wrote a user. “Happy birthday to your beautiful mama. You were both first in line when beauty was been (sic) given out. You are both gorgeous,” added another person.

MOTHER OF TWO CHILDREN

Besides acting and being a devoted daughter, Alexander is the doting mother of two children, shared with her husband of 12 years, Italian film director Edoardo Ponti. They have a daughter Lucia, born in 2006, and a son Leonardo, born in 2010.

As a mother, Alexander found ways to have fun from watching her children interact with each other, especially when they were little. She delighted in seeing how their big sister/little brother dynamic unfolded.

Back when Lucia was 7 and Leonardo was 2, Alexander revealed that while Lucia was very nurturing and protective of her little brother, she also knew exactly how to make him cry.

To mitigate this situation, Alexander set up a rule that dictated that if she made Leonardo cry, she had to spend the rest of the day taking care of him. This is a curious but practical solution to preserve peace in the household.

HER WORK IN RECENT YEARS

Following her breakout role as Gretchen Witter in the drama series “Dawson’s Creek,” Alexander played a recurrent role in the police procedural “NCIS” from 2003 to 2015.

Almost in parallel, she played the main character, Maura Isles, in the TV series “Rizzoli & Isles” between 2010 and 2016. Also, in a big departure from her usual roles, Alexander played the irreverent Runyon in “Shameless” between 2015 and 2016.
