'30 Rock' Star Tracy Morgan Opens up about His Desire to Play Louis Armstrong in a Biopic

Hollywood star Tracy Morgan has expressed his wish to play American jazz legend Louis Armstrong in a biopic. Morgan noted that it has always been his dream.

Tracy Morgan was quite candid in his interview on "Conan," where he joined fellow star Taraji P. Henson and TV host Conan O'Brien. Morgan opened up about his wish to play the legendary jazz star Louis Armstrong, who passed on years ago.

The "30 Rock" actor relayed that he was ready to play Armstrong, adding that he and the late star had the same perception of the world, which was a beautiful world according to the late star's song, "What A Wonderful World."

Henson was quite elated as she buttressed Morgan's point, noting that he would be perfect for the role. She shared that the actor and the late jazz star had the same voice and facial similarities.

While Morgan has made his thoughts known about the much-desired role, other stars like Jermaine Fowler have also shared their thoughts, endorsing Morgan to play the role.

Fowler, who is the comedian's fellow star actor from "Coming 2 America," gave a recent interview stating that he hoped Morgan would play Armstrong in an upcoming movie project.

He mentioned that he was always fascinated by Morgan and even memorized one of his lines from an old-time film.

The TV star noted that he believed Morgan was underrated and fans needed to see more of him on the big screen. Fowler shared that he was fascinated and impressed by how much Morgan looked and sounded like Armstrong.

Although Morgan, 52, is gearing to portray the jazz icon's legacy, he once played Armstrong, spoofing him in an episode of "Saturday Night Live" in 2003.

Fowler, 32, had shared his thoughts about Morgan while he was talking about his recent blockbuster role in "Coming 2 America." He made it known that working with Morgan and Eddie Murphy was a great feat.

The stand-up comedian gushed about growing up watching the duo on TV. He mentioned that he was always fascinated by Morgan and even memorized one of his lines from an old-time film.

Morgan is married to Megan Wollover, and he has a daughter with her. He fathered three sons with his ex-wife, Sabina. The star actor lives with his family in New Jersey in his $13.9 million mansion he purchased in 2015.
