Story of the Day: Man Pretends to Sleep All Night to See If His Wife Is Lying

After his wife threatened to leave him because she refused to get rid of their cats which she said kept her up all night, he decided to test her.

Day after day, a man's wife complained that their cats were keeping her up all night, threatening to leave him if he didn't sort it out. His suspicions got the better of him, so he pretended to sleep all night to see if his wife was lying.

For months on end, the man had to listen to his partner complaining about their cats, claiming that she had to get out of bed to let them out repeatedly. She also said that they were constantly noisy throughout the night-time and jumped on her as well.

The situation became so bad that his wife eventually threatened to take her bags and leave. She claimed that she was suffering from sleep deprivation due to the constant issues with the felines.

However, the man began to develop some suspicious feelings. This was particularly after an incident where his wife said she was busy all night with the cats, but he himself was awake until quite early in the morning, and nothing happened.

To make sure she was telling the truth, the husband decided to test her. One night he decided he would pretend to sleep and see if she was actually being disturbed by the cats.

Once his wife decided to try and sleep, he let all the animals leave the room. Following this, he began to act as if he was sleeping when really he was waiting to see what would happen.

The man was very meticulous regarding his investigation into his wife's odd claims. He used timestamps from discord and even made sure to note every single sound that their cats might make.

He was incredibly bored while pretending to sleep as he waited to see what would happen. The cats seemed completely inactive except for eating food and another making a sound in the early morning.

After the night was gone, the man was completely sure that his wife was lying to him. She had been sound asleep throughout the night until the morning, not waking up even once to tend to the cats.

Carrying on with her dishonestly, she said that she had been woken up multiple times during the course of the night. She claimed, of course, that this was due to the cats bothering her.

At this point, the husband was completely worn out. He directly confronted his wife, explaining how he had taken the time to find out if she was really telling the truth.

Continuing, he told her that he had spent the whole night awake to see if the cats were jumping on her, making noises, or asking to go out. None of that actually happened, he said in disbelief.

He wondered what possibly could be the reason for her lying about such a strange thing. She, however, was simply quiet, looking angry and not saying a single word.

Eventually, she returned. The husband kept trying to engage in a conversation with her, but she wasn't receptive at all, refusing to engage or communicate in any way.

The husband kept prodding and asking her questions. He specifically wanted to know why she was treating him like a villain when she was obviously the one in the wrong.
