Speaking of his typical childhood in Toronto, Dan revealed to People recently that he got into trouble a lot growing up with his legendary comedic actor father Eugene.

In February 2018, Dan, who began his career as a television host, took to Instagram to share a theatrical throwback of himself, captioning the post with "Me. Being dramatic (for a change). #FBF"
THEY ARE DEFINITELY TWINNING
In June 2017, Dan posted a precious picture of himself and his father posing with the same facial expression. In the caption, the star wrote that they have been working on their act since 1983.
Although Dan liked to mimic his father as a kid, his hair was a big no-no for him as an adult. Meanwhile, Dan credited his iconic father for helping him learn everything he knows.
In January 2019, Dan's pic with his father received numerous comments that they look almost identical, which is crazy. On captioning the photo, Dan quipped that their pose took them an hour to figure out.
Last December, Dan wrote in the caption of a photo that his father looked dapper for him. The post received over 891,000 likes on Instagram. Many fans added their thoughts via comments.
Dan founded Not a Real Company Productions with his father, Andrew Barnsley, and Fred Levy, in 2013. The first project they worked on was a TV pilot with CBC, which resulted in "Schitt's Creek."
Dan also appears in the series together with his father, his sister Sarah Levy, Annie Murphy, Catherine O'Hara, and Chris Elliott. His work on the show got him nominated for many different awards.
