Deadly Fire In a Newark Townhouse Kills a Young Boy & Injures 7 People, Including 3 Children
A massive fire broke out from inside a three-story home in the early hours of the morning, leaving a seven-year-old dead despite efforts to save him.
On Thursday morning, at around 4:45 am, a fire began inside a three-story home on Astor Street, Newark, New Jersey. As seen in a posted video, massive flames tore the house apart and injured seven residents.
Firefighters managed to save four adults and three kids from the fire and were medically treated for multiple injuries. However, a seven-year-old was trapped inside and did not make it out alive.
The little boy's body was found on the third floor of the home. The victim's father already ran outside their house before trying to re-enter to save his son. The Newark public safety director said that the man tried to enter through their neighbor's roof, to no avail.
According to neighbors, there was an altercation that took place in front of the multiple-family home when the fire broke out. However, the reason behind the incident is still under investigation.
After the fire was put out, several firefighters and media personnel still swarmed the place, gathering anecdotes and evidence. The only confirmation derived was the death of the young boy.
Two adults were later found in the bathroom, while three children were discovered at the apartment's rear.
Just last month, another fire took place in Newark that displaced 17 adults and nine children. The two-story duplex at Wolcott Terr street began emitting smoke at around 2:30 pm, drawing attention to the neighborhood.
According to the responders, it took about 30 minutes to have the fire under control. They also reported that the roof collapsed, resulting in a firefighter's minor injury. Luckily, no one died on the scene.

Another similar incident happened on March 28, 2021, when an apartment on Geyers Springs Road in Little Rock burst into flames. Despite efforts to save the residents, the family perished in their burning home.
Two adults were later found in the bathroom, while three children were discovered at the apartment's rear. Sadly, the couple and their kids did not make it. The cause of the fire was investigated, but no foul play was suspected.
