A helicopter collision over Rio de Janeiro has left six people dead, including a well-known American music star. But as investigators search for answers, a witness has shared a chilling account of what he says happened in the final seconds before impact.

That startling claim has quickly become one of the most talked-about details to emerge from the deadly crash.

Firefighters said all six people aboard the aircraft were killed.

One helicopter crashed into the parking lot of a car dealership, igniting a fire among several electric vehicles. Emergency crews later brought the flames under control.

Authorities have launched an investigation into what caused the collision. As officials worked to identify the victims, attention quickly turned to one familiar name.

The victims were later identified by the Rio de Janeiro Civil Police, according to CNN Brazil.

Aside from Tree, those killed were passengers Lucas Vignale, Gaspar Prim, and Lucas Brito Chaves, along with pilots Alexandre Souza and Charles Marsillac.

Officials said five people were aboard one helicopter, while the second aircraft carried only its pilot.

Following news of his death, Argentine streaming channel Blender paid tribute to the 23-year-old, writing: "Thanks for your art, your magic and your sensibility, every one of us will miss you."

Yet it was a witness account from the ground that added an especially haunting layer to the tragedy.

Fernandes de Freitas, a tire repair worker, told the AP that he saw one helicopter burst into flames after the midair collision. Then, he said, something even more shocking happened.

De Freitas claimed he saw a passenger jump from the second helicopter before it struck the ground. "It was terrifying, absolutely horrifying," he said.

Authorities have not publicly confirmed the witness's account, and officials have not yet announced what caused the two helicopters to crash.
