Three-year-old Elijah LaFrance was fatally shot whilst attending a birthday party in northeast Miami-Dade. A 21-year-old woman also sustained gunshot wounds but is in a stable condition.

The authorities are on the hunt for information following the killing of Elijah LaFrance. The toddler was shot at around 8:05 p.m. Saturday at a birthday party held in the vicinity of North Miami Avenue and NE 158 Street.

The three-year-old boy was still alive when the police arrived on the scene. LaFrance was immediately transported to the hospital, where he later died from the injuries sustained in the shooting.

Law enforcement is investigating the shooting without having identified or located the suspect as of yet. Miami-Dade Police took to Twitter to ask anyone for more information to come forward. The tweet reads

"On 4/24/21, Elijah LaFrance was killed in the area of N. Miami Avenue & NE 158 Street. Anyone with information is urged to contact @CrimeStopper305."

Miami-Dade Police Director Alfredo Ramirez has ensured the community that the guilty parties will be tracked down and held liable for the lives lost and the injuries sustained.

A news outlet confirmed that the shooting location was an Airbnb property that was being rented for the birthday party. A fight broke out outside the house, and gunfire followed.

The infant's 3-year-old brother got a hold of a firearm and shot his younger sibling.

CBS4 also reported that LaFrance and the 21-year-old woman that was shot were both discovered outside the property when the authorities arrived on the scene a little later.

In the wake of the three-year-old's premature death, his family members are left distraught. Adrian Annestor, LaFrance's uncle, spoke out about the loss of his nephew, saying

“I wish it could have been me because I’ve lived long enough. He couldn’t even say mom and dad.”

A neighbor who witnessed the entire ordeal explained that a white vehicle pulled up to the birthday party and pulled out a machine gun before firing multiple shots. The neighbor said it sounded like more than 30 shots were fired.

A Houston family is also mourning the loss of their baby. The infant's three-year-old brother got a hold of a firearm and shot his younger sibling. The little boy was only eight months old.

The shooting occurred inside the family's apartment. Several adults piled into the car with the injured baby and transported him to the hospital, but he did not survive the gunshot wound.

The eight-month-old was reportedly shot in the abdomen. Houston assistant police chief Wendy Baimbridge pleaded with families to ensure that the weapons in their homes are secure and out of reach from their children.

Following the shooting, the authorities were initially unable to find the weapon that killed the baby but later discovered it in the vehicle used to transport him to the hospital. It is not clear whether any charges will be pressed.
