Carey Mulligan Steals the Show Wearing a Valentino Sequin Gold Bandeau Top With a Ball Skirt
Carey Mulligan graced the 2021 Academy Awards red carpet in a gorgeous gold bandeau top and skirt from Valentino, stealing the show as she posed for photos.
Carey Mulligan might not have gone home with the Best Actress in a Leading Role trophy from this year's Oscars, but she looked every inch a winner in her beautiful coordinates from Valentino. The two-piece outfit showed off her midriff, and she swept her hair away from her face into a neat bun to highlight her gorgeous look.
Her hairstylist, Jenny Cho, shared that the inspiration for her look sprung from the dress, symbolizing classic Hollywood glam with a modern twist. On that note, she decided to give her an up-do that felt "fresh, current, and playful."

The "Promising Young Woman" star was nominated for the Best Actress award alongside Andra Day for "The United States Vs. Billie Holiday," Vanessa Kirby for "Pieces of a Woman," Viola Davis for "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, and Frances McDormand for "Nomadland." The latter ended up winning the award.
Mulligan's "Promising Young Woman" is a revenge thriller that tackles the "#MeToo" movement. In the film, she is a barista that avenges her best friend, who died by suicide after being sexually assaulted at a party.
Every week, Mulligan's character, Cassie, goes to a club and pretends to be drunk. She then waits for a guy to approach her, and when he tries to take advantage, she flips and reveals she was sober the entire time.
The men featured in the movie included Adam Brody, Bo Burnham, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse. According to Mulligan, they deliberately placed Hollywood's "nice guys" in the film.
Mulligan walked into the Oscars linked arm-in-arm with her husband, Marcus Mumford. He donned a black Dolce & Gabbana tuxedo and bow tie for the special event, one of the rare times they've appeared together. Mulligan and Mumford tied the knot in 2012, but they are rarely seen together in public.
Mulligan and Mumford first met when they were children.
The "Mumford and Sons" member and Mulligan are extremely private about their personal lives, but they actually share two children together named Evelyn and Wilfred. Before forming his band, he was a drummer for artists such as Noah and the Whale, Adele, and his ex, Laura Marling.
Although they only got married in 2012, Mulligan and Mumford actually first met when they were children. After joining the same Christian church camp, they kept in touch by writing each other letters before losing touch growing up.
