Mariah Carey just proved that "Dem Babies" are officially grown-up teens during a magical birthday outing. But eagle-eyed fans soon moved past the fireworks and matching outfits.

The superstar marked Moroccan and Monroe's 15th birthday on April 30, 2026, with a Facebook and Instagram post that quickly drew thousands of reactions. The images gave fans one of their clearest looks yet at the now-teenage duo.

The birthday gallery showed a family celebration at what appeared to be a Disney park, complete with nighttime fireworks and a warm, festive atmosphere. But it was something specific about Monroe that got fans zooming in and sounding off in the comments.

A Sweet Birthday Post From Mariah

Mariah posted several photos from the outing, captioning them simply: "Happy Birthday, Roc & Roe!!!! 🎉🎁 I love you so much ❤️ Mom."

The twins wore matching black shirts printed with "Rocky & Roe 15th Birthday Est. 2007" — a sweet, if slightly puzzling, detail that had at least one fan asking why the shirts read 2007 when the twins were born in 2011.

The images captured the family across different moments of the day. One daytime shot showed Moroccan and Monroe standing together in front of a themed park display, while a nighttime photo caught Mariah smiling beside them.

A group shot featured several guests, many also wearing the matching birthday shirts. Another image showed Mariah seated close to Monroe and Moroccan posing nearby.

Mariah also included a solo close-up of herself — amber-tinted sunglasses, cream-colored outfit — along with a final shot of fireworks bursting over the water as guests watched from below.

Fans Divided on Who the Twins Take After

The comments filled up fast, and one debate dominated: who do Moroccan and Monroe look like? Fans were firmly split between Team Mariah and Team Nick.

One commenter wrote, "Roc definitely looks like Nick and Roe looks like Mariah." Another said, "ROC has his daddy's face while Roe has mamas ❤️."

A third fan added, "Carbon Copies of Mariah skin tone and hair texture. Rock looks like Nick and Roe looks like her...🥰🥰🥰."

The comments about Moroccan were especially direct. One person wrote, "He LITERALLY has his dad's WHOLE face!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY 🎁🎂🎈." Another echoed, "The boy got his daddy whole face 😬."

The photos also raised a small question about the matching shirts. The design said, "Rocky & Roe 15th Birthday Est. 2007," though the twins were born in 2011.

One Instagram user asked, "Can someone help me understand why their shirts say est. 2007? Also, hbd dem babies!!!"

Another viewer looked at the hand gestures in the photos and asked, "What sign are they doing with the hands?"

On Instagram, Monroe also replied to their mother's post, writing, "I love you mom! ❤️" Moroccan added, "Love you mom, im so grateful ❤️🫂"

Monroe's New Look Has Fans Talking

But the detail that really got people going was about Monroe. Fans who have followed the twins for years noticed something different about her in the birthday photos: she wasn't wearing her glasses.

"Oh Roe got contacts now? Nomore [sic] glasses for Roe? That's cute awwww the baby! Dem Babies done got big," one fan observed. For followers who have watched Monroe grow up wearing glasses in nearly every public appearance, the change was hard to miss.

Others were just floored by how much the twins have grown in general. "Oh they're growing up. They're both adorable but she's a doll," one fan remarked. Over on Instagram, the sentiment was the same: "Dem babies grew up so fast! Dem TEENS."

Last Year Was an Escape Room

The Disney photos came one year after the twins' father, Nick Cannon, marked their 14th birthday with a very different kind of celebration.

On April 29, 2025, the "Wild n' Out" creator shared an Instagram Reel showing their birthday festivities. He explained that Roc and Roe did not want a regular birthday party.

Nick said they thought they were "too cool for that," so he rented out the entire @thebasementescaperoom experience for them and their friends.

The "Masked Singer" host described the outing as scary and mind-blowing, and said the teens and their friends loved it. He also joked that they let "the old man" come along as a chaperone.

Nick opened that birthday message with, "Happy Birthday to my Firstborns! 14 years old!!! Somebody slow this thing down!!! Please!!!"

Compared with Nick's 2025 escape room clip, Mariah's post kept the spotlight on Roc and Roe's latest photos, from the matching shirts to the fireworks. The biggest reaction, though, stayed with Roe's updated look and the reminder that the twins are now 15.

Another Mariah Carey Moment Recently Went Viral

The attention around Mariah, however, has not been limited to family photos. In another recent moment, the conversation was about her career after a major music honor once again passed her by.

As we previously reported, Mariah's response to missing the 2026 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame gained traction, with a candid video showing exactly how she reacted to the news, despite previously calling the nomination a significant career milestone.

Mariah recently reacted to her latest Rock & Roll Hall of Fame snub, but her response was unexpectedly laid-back. It's what she said on camera that stood out, especially as this marked her third consecutive nomination.

The singer, who earned her third consecutive nomination this year, embraced the recognition, saying it "felt great" and calling it an "unchecked box" in her career in a Billboard interview.

She also highlighted her crossover into rock, including covers of Foreigner, Journey, and Def Leppard. That perspective made the outcome more striking.

The 2026 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees include Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Iron Maiden, Joy Division/New Order, Oasis, Sade, Luther Vandross, Wu-Tang Clan, Celia Cruz, Fela Kuti, Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, Gram Parsons, Linda Creed, Arif Mardin, Jimmy Miller, Rick Rubin, and Ed Sullivan — without Carey.

Her reaction quickly spread online after footage surfaced outside The Peninsula Hotel in New York City.

In the clip, first reported by TMZ, Carey stepped out to a crowd of fans. When asked about the snub, she didn’t hesitate, replying, "Yeah, who cares? Like give it to somebody else. Fantastic."

The exchange, also seen in a video, shows her remaining relaxed and unbothered.

Some reactions were captured on video, with people nearby saying she deserved the honor and calling the decision disrespectful. Carey acknowledged them, thanked them for their support, and said she will always love her fans.

Despite her 19 No. 1 hits and lasting influence on pop and R&B, the latest omission has reignited debate, but Carey appears unfazed.

Where It Started

Carey was first nominated in 2024, her debut on the ballot, as reported by Deadline.

She was part of a wide-ranging group of nominees that included Cher, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Kool & the Gang, Lenny Kravitz, Oasis, Sinéad O'Connor, Ozzy Osbourne, Sade, Mary J. Blige, Dave Matthews Band, Eric B. & Rakim, Jane's Addiction, and A Tribe Called Quest.

At the time, it was a crowded field, but not every name would carry through.

The 2024 inductees ultimately included Cher, Mary J. Blige, Dave Matthews Band, Foreigner, Kool & the Gang, Ozzy Osbourne, and A Tribe Called Quest, leaving Carey off the final list.

That nomination marked the start of a recurring pattern.

Another Nomination

In 2025, Carey was nominated again. She acknowledged the recognition in an Instagram post:

"I'm so grateful to be nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame once again! It’s always an incredible honor to be recognized alongside so many legendary artists I admire. Thank you to the @rockhall and, of course, to my amazing fans— you are the heart of everything I do. This means so much! ❤️🎶"

It sounded like a moment of celebration, but the outcome told a different story.

The 2025 inductees eventually included Bad Company, Chubby Checker, Cyndi Lauper, Joe Cocker, OutKast, Soundgarden, and The White Stripes, again without Carey.

Now, after a third nomination with the same outcome, her latest reaction adds a new layer to the ongoing conversation. It also comes as Carey has continued to draw attention during recent appearances.

As we previously reported, Carey arrived at the Los Angeles Convention Center on January 30, 2026, for the MusiCares Person of the Year gala, where the atmosphere shifted instantly. This wasn't just another red carpet appearance; it was a moment.

Before the speeches, before the tributes, before the music, there was that entrance. Carey stepped into the spotlight with the kind of confidence that doesn't ask for attention; it assumes it.

As she moved further down the carpet, the mood softened. Carey offered a rare, almost reflective expression, a quiet pause amid the noise, as if she were absorbing the weight of the evening. That single moment struck fans just as profoundly as the drama of her arrival. It felt intimate, unscripted, and unmistakably Carey.

Another admirer focused on a signature detail fans never seem to get over, "I love Mariah, always have, look at that magnificent hair." Others leaned fully into the mythos. "Queen of eternal youth." One comment added, "Nice pantaloons."

But the night wasn't only about fashion and still photos.

Inside the venue, emotions ran high as the tributes began, including one performance that quickly became the most debated moment of the evening. The MusiCares Foundation shared a TikTok video capturing Billy Porter's heartfelt rendition of "Always Be My Baby," performed in Carey's honor.

Almost instantly, fans split into camps. Some were convinced Carey wasn't impressed at all, saying, "She hated it," and "This is the worst way to pay tribute Mariah. She hates people singing her songs 😂."

Others saw something entirely different in her reaction. "I think Mariah appreciated and enjoyed this rendition. She smiled throughout the performance, and we all know Mariah is very particular and not easily impressed..Great job!" and another comment confidently declared, "Mariah Enjoyed this 🔥."

The debate didn't stop there. A separate wave of reactions doubled down on the skepticism, with fans writing, "I know she hated that," and "Disrespectful! And yall know this."

Still, moments later, any lingering doubt seemed to dissolve onstage.

Carey and Porter shared a warm embrace that felt spontaneous, affectionate, and very real. The hug told its own story, one of mutual respect, shared emotion, and celebration. Applause filled the room, and for a brief second, the noise of the internet didn't matter.

Only then did the official reason for the night come fully into focus. Carey was being honored as the 2026 MusiCares Person of the Year for her impact, artistry, and philanthropy, a title that felt less like recognition and more like confirmation.

By the end of the evening, one thing was undeniable. Whether fans were dissecting her expressions, replaying performances, or zooming in on every photo, Mariah Carey once again owned the conversation without saying a word. Based on the images and comments, this is one night people won't stop talking about for a long time.
