Menopause is undoubtedly challenging, and women could always use some turn-by-turn instructions. Common symptoms include irregular periods, hot flashes, sleep problems, and mood swings.

Early menopause can occur due to a condition called POI, in which young women (under 40) do not or have only occasional periods and have elevated FSH levels, which indicate fewer eggs in the ovaries.

Menopause is a natural, regular event in which women stop menstruating on their own without the need for medical treatment. Women become menopausal when they haven't had their period for 12 months on end.

They are urged to get support so they can cope with it. Gynecologist Dr. Heather Currie advised that women will find a lot of information online, like the Menopause Society's Women's Health Concern helpline.

In addition, Dr. Currie suggested talking to their GP if they need further assistance. Diet and lifestyle can play a significant part, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy may help with mood and anxiety issues.

In some cases, heart conditions may arise during menopause, including dizziness and cardiac palpitations.

On the other hand, Dr. Shazia Malik said many women believe that gaining weight during menopause is an inevitable process that they cannot control. The reality, however, is quite different.

According to Dr. Malik, as women age, their metabolic rate slows down, which means they should eat healthier and be sure to exercise regularly. She cited hormonal changes as the cause of weight fluctuations.

According to Dr. Malik, hormone changes during menopause can initially lead to weight gain. However, the body later adapts to those changes, and weight gain can be controlled using simple lifestyle changes.

Meanwhile, the symptoms of menopause differ from one woman to another, even within the same family. Depending on the generation, ovary function declines at a different pace.

In some cases, heart conditions may arise during menopause, including dizziness and cardiac palpitations. Low estrogen levels can also weaken women's body's ability to maintain flexible arteries, impairing blood flow.

Women are encouraged to always watch their weight and eat a balanced diet. It is also a good idea to exercise regularly. They may also reduce their chances of developing heart disease if they don't smoke.
