In a recent episode of "Today Extra," David Campbell, a host of the Australian news and chat show, mocked a petition which called for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to give up their titles.

Campbell's co-host explained the petition was set up by a socialite named Lady Colin Campbell. It demanded that Prince Harry and Markle relinquish their titles and stop damaging the monarchy.

The 47-year-old journalist rolled his eyes and scoffed when discussing the petition, which gained over 45,000 signatures in a short amount of time. Campbell joked about the reason for the large number of signatures.

He claimed the reason why the petition had gained so much support from people online was that known Sussex critic Piers Morgan had signed many of them. Campbell said during the segment:

"Piers Morgan is 40 of those though, Piers Morgan, one, Piers Morgan, two."

Campbell was not alone in mocking the petition. Another host referred to as Bret, who was stationed in Melbourne, questioned whether the topic was important and revealed insight about the petition's creator.

He explained that it was interesting that Ms. Campbell started the petition for Harry and Markle to lose their titles as she was given her title of Lady when she married her ex-husband in the 70s.

It is unlikely the petition (even if it received a lot of support) would pressure the monarchy to remove Markle and Prince Harry's titles.

The host went on to say that Ms. Campbell had been married to her ex-husband for only a year, but she has kept the marriage title 40 years on. His insight showed how ironic the situation was.

Campbell has always been outspoken with his support of the Duke of Sussex, previously referring to him as a hero. He stood up for Harry when people accused the Duke of whining, saying on the show:

"He's telling his story. I don't see that as whingeing."

Harry's so-called whingeing occurred during his revealing podcast interview on "Armchair Expert," with Dax Shepard, in which he slammed Prince Charles' parenting and stated he had continued a cycle of genetic suffering.

Campbell has also previously stated that Prince Harry was the only royal he liked. Furthermore, the TV host believes Harry was a good thing and an amazing person.

It is safe to say that Campbell would probably not sign the petition. It is unlikely the petition (even if it received a lot of support) would pressure the monarchy to remove Markle and Prince Harry's titles.

The couple was given the title as a wedding gift by Harry's grandmother, Queen Elizabeth. So the only real way they would lose their titles would be if they relinquished them themselves.
