“Big Cats” author Holiday Reinhorn has been married to “The Office” star Rainn Wilson for nearly three decades. She began writing following a near-death experience.

Wilson was born in Seattle in 1966 to a Bohemian couple. When he was only two years old, his parents parted ways, and his mother left home. His dad considered that moving to Mexico City was their best option.

Once south the border, Wilson's dad met and married another Seattle exile. The new family moved to Bluefields, a remote coastal town in Nicaragua. They lived in an allegedly haunted Victorian mansion.

RETURNING TO THE US

The Wilsons didn’t stay too long in Nicaragua as they were back in Washington by the time Rainn Wilson was five years old. Eventually, he attended the University of Washington and began acting in the late 90s.

His first gig in the entertainment industry was an episode of “One Life to Live” in 1997. He then appeared in “The Expendables,” “Galaxy Quest,” and “House of 1000 Corpses.”

Wilson’s career skyrocketed in 2005 when he was cast as Dwight Schrute in “The Office.” His performance was so outstanding that he got nominated for three Emmys.

MARRYING HOLIDAY REINHORN

Rainn Wilson and Holiday Reinhorn met each other in an acting class at the University of Washington in the mid-80s, before any of them were famous. From that point on, they’ve been almost inseparable.

On June 30, 1995, they tied the knot on Kalama River, Washington in a very unconventional ceremony, as Reinhorn arrived on a raft filled with flowers.

Reinhorn and Wilson also built a fire for their guests to throw in pieces of paper with their wishes. The ceremony ended with everybody jumping into the river. About the unusual event, Wilson confessed:

“It was a pretty glorious event, and looking back on it, I wouldn’t change a thing. It was a bizarre and profound expression of our love. And a hell of a lot of fun.”

Rainn Wilson and Holiday Reinhorn’s son, Walter, was born in 2004. Given that their names are so uncommon, some people were quite surprised by their son’s moniker.

Two Serbian terrorists held everyone at gunpoint.

The actor once described it as “nice” and “old-fashion.” He added that “Walter Wilson” sounded good and was “very presidential.” Rainn Wilson and his wife are known for shielding their son away from the spotlight, so don’t expect to find much information about him online.

LEARNING ABOUT HOLIDAY REINHORN

While Wilson is the main star of the family, Reinhorn is quite famous, too. Born in Oregon in 1964, she lived in Japan, Thailand, Hong Kong, and other cities due to her father’s job in the Army.

Her family only settled down in the States in 1971. After reading “Helter Skelter,” Reinhorn decided she wanted to become a writer, but a much more traumatic event made her start.

While working as a waitress in a restaurant across from the UN building in New York, two Serbian terrorists held everyone at gunpoint. A Croatian man convinced the terrorists to leave everybody alone, fortunately.

She wrote about that unusual and life-threatening event for an open-mic and then developed it into a bigger show called “Fish.” From that point on, her career as a writer officially began.

One of her most famous stories is “Big Cats.” Apart from that, Reinhorn has worked in the entertainment industry, too, with writing credits for “Last Seen” and “Push.”

At the moment, Holiday Reinhorn and her husband live in a Spanish-style hacienda in Southern California. While the property was built in 1974, it was in excellent condition, so they didn’t change much to give it a more 21st-century style.
