MyKayla Skinner's Husband Jonas Harmer Is a Sales Manager — Inside Her Personal Life

Artistic gymnast MyKayla Skinner wants four or five children, but her sales manager husband is willing to have up to three kids. Their relationship is one of a kind.

Skinner made headlines in late June 2021 after being named one of the 2021 US Women’s Olympic Gymnastics Team members, joining Simone Biles and other talented athletes.

Currently studying at the University of Utah, 24-year-old Skinner knows that the Tokyo Games are her last opportunity to represent her country and win a gold medal.

Skinner revealed she learned that the Olympics were postponed due to the pandemic from her husband, Jonas Harmer. She was angry as she worked hard to go but eventually realized she could use the extra time to get better.

Unfortunately, she injured her foot, tested positive for coronavirus, and had a stint with pneumonia since the Games were postponed.

Even with all those setbacks, she finished fifth overall at the trials and was chosen as the second individual competitor. Her drive and determination were crucial, but her husband’s support was probably helpful, too.

MyKayla Skinner and her husband met through a mutual friend at the university. Skinner confessed she immediately thought he was the “cutest” guy she’d ever seen but didn’t think he’d be interested in her because she’s “super short.”

Luckily, Harmer was attracted to her, and they began dating right away. In October 2019, two years into their relationship and shortly after she returned from the World Championships in Germany, he proposed.

Their engagement made headlines for a few reasons, including that they were 22 years old at the time, and they set the wedding date for that November, only one month later.

Jonas Harmer and MyKayla Skinner married on November 14, 2019, and they have been together ever since. During their relationship, they have discussed some details of their future, including their potential children.

In a Q&A session uploaded to the athlete’s YouTube channel, she said she would like to have four or five kids, but Harmer, currently a sales manager at Vivint, said he wanted two or three.

He pointed out they would have children “eventually” and “not anytime soon,” but Skinner disagreed and said they’d enlarge their family “soon.”

MyKayla Skinner and her husband are still young, so they have plenty of time to decide how many children they’ll have. At the moment, she is focused on her upcoming appearances in the Olympic Games.
