Mariska Hargitay Amused Fans after Matching Her Orthotic Boot with $145 Sneaker in Brand-New Snap

Mariska Hargitay had to get an orthotic boot after she suffered a serious injury to her ankle, but she’s since handled it quite well. One fan even thought the star “always looked good” despite the boot.

According to Page Six, on July 2, 2021, Mariska Hargitay, 57, tripped and broke her ankle. The actress was rushing to leave the Hamptons screening of the movie “Black Widow” when the incident happened.

The publication revealed that at the time, the star was supposed to host an afterparty at her East Hampton home that she shares with her husband, Peter Hermann. However, she failed to arrive on time.

Hargitay was allegedly rushed to the E.R. in an ambulance. The following Monday, the actress took to Instagram to share an image of her right foot in a soft cast making light on the injury in the caption.

Besides calling it her summer look, the star also joked with the hashtag “#specialankleunit.” On an update post on July 19, 2021, the star was seen with her feet raised as she wore an orthotic boot on her injured foot.

Her other foot was dressed in a $145 Nike Air Jordan 1 Mid "Crimson Tint" sneaker. In the post’s caption, Hargitay said her cast was off and thanked someone called Victoria for the cool sneakers, with one fan joking:

“Special Robofoot Unit here we go.”

Someone else said they were impressed with the “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit (SVU)” star’s “shoe game.” A third person thought the star was one person who could pull off the sneaker and orthotic boot look.

Another fan asked Hargitay not to break herself again. At the same time, someone else thought the actress had a lot of swag with her fashion style, taking special notice of the Nike sneaker.

Another person thought the boot looked much more manageable for the star’s filming work and the summer heat. The fans asked the star to try not to have such adventures in the future.

A social media user also supported the actress by mentioning how the change from the cast was progress before commenting on the pink-trimmed sneaker. Someone else thought the star had style.

The star who is married to the “Younger” actor seems to be having a tough year. Her latest injury came just six weeks after Hargitay suffered serious injuries to both her legs in May 2021.

That injury was so bad that the NBC star had to be taken to hospital. In an Instagram post, Hargitay revealed that she had a broken knee, had a hairline fracture in her ankle, and had a torn ligament.

Luckily, the star didn’t need surgery again during that incident but had to wear a knee brace and boot. Her fans were right there when she needed them most, sending messages of support and good health.

Hargitay’s role as Lieutenant Olivia Benson also became the longest-running character.

This wasn’t the first injury Hargitay suffered over the years. In July 2009, “Redbook” revealed that the actress sustained an injury the previous fall while on the set of “Law & Order: SVU.”

While doing her own stunts in October 2008, the star jumped and landed in a way that caused her to have a microscopic bleed in her lung tissue. Her lung collapsed, and she underwent multiple surgeries to repair it.

It took some time to heal and recover, but she was back at work after spending time with her family. Speaking about SVU, the show marked the beginning of its 22nd season on January 2021.

The show finally became the longest-running primetime live-action show on television with its previous season. Hargitay’s role as Lieutenant Olivia Benson also became the longest-running character.

The fan-favorite series was also renewed all the way through to season 24. Showrunner Warren Leight anticipated that the Black Lives Matter movement would be profiled during the season.
