Ever since Grammy Award-winning singer Lizzo announced that she was giving veganism a try, she has been posting fun videos of her meals on social media.

When Lizzo told her followers about her lifestyle change in mid-2020, she confessed she was “enjoying exploring flavors” of plant and plant-based proteins.

The “Good as Hell” singer also uploaded videos on TikTok of everything she ate on a day (dessert included). She kicked off her morning with a green smoothie made with coconut water, kale or spinach, and frozen yogurt.

Lizzo ate kale again in her colorful lunch salad, and she mixed it with red cabbage, broccoli, avocado, onions, and carrots. As per the dinner, she went for some leftover salad, a truffle-chickpea-mushroom ball, and some quinoa.

For her dessert, she prepared another yummy-looking smoothie with peanut butter, frozen strawberries, oat milk, vanilla protein powder, some more oats, and the most critical ingredient, “love from Jesus.”

The singer admitted that turning her back to hot Cheetos was the hardest as she used to eat a lot of it. Fortunately, she found a plant-based alternative in Lesser Evil Paleo Puffs.

Later that year, Lizzo revealed she had been eating many meat substitutes like tempeh and Beyond Meat, but the most interesting was jackfruit, which was also her favorite at the time.

To reason jackfruit is so popular in the vegan world is its reasonably plain flavor, meaning that it will taste differently depending on the seasonings. Apart from that, its texture is similar to pulled pork.

While her past lifestyle was not as healthy, she doesn’t condemn it.

In another video, Lizzo showed that she boiled the jackfruit for about 45 minutes, drained the water, and tore its “succulent meat” apart with a fork. After that, she mixed it with avocado oil, pickle juice, white wine vinegar, and some seasonings.

Lizzo has also explored raw veganism through vegan meal-delivery services. She explained that eating raw food, like the apple beet salad she talked about in July 2020, has “internal benefits” as it boosts the immune system and makes digestion easier.

In October 2020, the “Juice” singer celebrated six months as a vegan by uploading an inspiring video on TikTok that chronicled her journey and left a body-positive message.

Lizzo pointed out that while her past lifestyle was not as healthy, she doesn’t condemn it as she’s happy “both ways.” She’s genuinely a body-positivity advocate!
