'The Good Doctor' Fans Divided after They Were Asked about their Expectations of Season 5

Season 4 of “The Good Doctor” ended with many cliffhangers that have left fans wanting more. In a recent post, fans shared what they were hoping would happen when the series returns.

On Wednesday, “The Good Doctor” took to its Instagram page to ask fans what they looked forward to when the series returns for its 5th season. The show’s viewers quickly jumped to share all their expectations.

Several people revealed that they were looking forward to the wedding between Dr. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore) and his first crush Lea Dilallo (Paige Spara). The pair eventually developed a serious relationship.

WHAT FANS EXPECT ON SEASON 5

While another person wanted to see more of Murphy’s intelligence and how he progresses to become the Chief of Surgery. In the series, Highmore is a young autistic surgeon whose who struggles to foster personal relationships.

Some people were also excited to see the couple’s love story and the progression into having a baby together. Fans were in for some serious drama in the 20 episodes of season 4 at St. Bonaventure Hospital.

Dilallo ended up proposing to Murphy on the season’s finale. Another fan couldn’t wait to see what happens with Dr. Morgan Reznick (Fiona Gubelmann) and Dr. Alex Park’s (Will Yun Lee) relationship.

Someone else was more excited about seeing Dr. Audrey Lim (Christina Chang), the Chief of Surgery and an attending trauma surgeon. Another person looked forward to seeing Dr. Claire Browne (Antonia Thomas).

DR. BROWNE’S EXIT

Sadly, Thomas won’t be reprising her role as Browne as she left “The Good Doctor” after starring on the show for four seasons. In season 4’s finale, the St. Bonaventure team had to go on a surgical mission in Guatemala.

Thomas exited the show when her character chose to stay with the medical team in the remote village after being accepted for a surgical position at a rural hospital. She told “Deadline” that leaving was a hard decision.

The actress felt it was bittersweet because the time she’d spent on the show had been “absolutely incredible.” However, Thomas was ready to try something new going forward.

Despite this, the actress shared that she wouldn’t mind reprising her role in the future as a guest star. Here’s a quick recap of what happened in the last season of “The Good Doctor.”

RECAP OF SEASON 4

The 4th season started with the hospital being hit by a cyberattack that threatened to shut down life-saving machines. Dilallo came through by trying to find ways to outsmart the hackers.

He [Osvaldo Benavides] had a warrant out for him who complicated things but he’s meant to be promoted.

The team got to test an inspirational cancer survivor-turned-successful-philanthropist in the premiere directed by Highmore. Reznick and Park started bonding after becoming roommates when he decided his marriage was over.

Lim began suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) after months of having to witness patients die from COVID-19 related illnesses. Of course, we also got to see Murphy and Dilallo’s relationship.

She got pregnant, had a miscarriage, and the couple had to deal with the implications. The season ended with a team from St. Bonaventure traveling on a medical mission to Guatemala.

Lim actually seemed to have fallen in love while in Guatemala with Dr. Mateo Rendón Osma (Osvaldo Benavides). He had a warrant out for him who complicated things, but he’s meant to be promoted.

The following reoccurring guest stars: Dr. Jordan Allen (Bria Samone Henderson) and Dr. Asher Wolke (Noah Galvin) will have regular roles on "The Good Doctor." Benavides will be a regular from September 27, 2021.
