Celebrities Send Love to Cancer-Free Christina Applegate Following Her Recent Incurable Disease Diagnosis
Hollywood is buzzing with messages of support for the newly MS diagnosed Christina Applegate. The actress, who is also a mother and wife, is pushing through her diagnosis for her fans and family.
Actress Christina Applegate has been candid about her health since her cancer diagnosis in 2008. Her openness may result from her Hollywood upbringing that saw her in front of the camera at only three months old.
Christina Applegate took to Twitter on Tuesday morning to share an update on her physical health. The actress, who publicly dealt with a cancer diagnosis, shocked many when she uncovered a different disease.
She bravely announced that she had been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, an incurable disease that results in nerve damage. Applegate followed up her message with another tweet asking for privacy as she navigates her illness.
Although Applegate acknowledged that her journey so far has been tough, the tone in her tweets was optimistic. As a result, tons of celebrities and fans rushed to the post to leave comments of support and encouragement for her.
My mom has lived with Multiple Sclerosis since 2013 (considered a late stage diagnosis since she was in her late 50s). It was scary at first & required an adjustment to her new normal. But she’s here & doing well. Sending Christina Applegate & anyone living with MS love & healing https://t.co/gJWobIJOii— Steven Canals (@StevenCanals) August 10, 2021
Screenwriter Steven Canals shared a quote tweet to Applegate’s announcement detailing his experience with MS. He revealed that his mother, who was diagnosed in 2013, was doing well to uplift the actress’s spirits.
“Anger Management” actress Selma Blair also shared a message of support under Applegate’s comment. Blair, who was also diagnosed with MS in 2009, expressed that she would be there to see Applegate through her diagnosis.
Loving you always. Always here. As are our kids. Beating us up with love— Selma Blair (@SelmaBlair) August 10, 2021
The support from Applegate’s peers kept rolling in with actors such as “Frozen’s” Josh Gad chiming in to reassure their friend. Gad’s tweet praised the actress for being one of the most courageous people he knows, making her fit to overcome the obstacle.
Other celebrities who sent messages of support to the actress include the likes of Kerry Washington and Ed Asner. Applegate even replied to some of the warm comments sent her way by her famous friends.
I don’t know a stronger, braver and more courageous person than @1capplegate - she will not be defined by this diagnosis and she will overcome any obstacle thrown her way. Asking everyone to send lots of love and positivity my friend’s way 🙏🙏🙏 https://t.co/jFEvvjlEk6— Josh Gad (@joshgad) August 10, 2021
The common theme in many of the messages sent to Applegate mentions how strong she is as a person. That perception of the actress grew from the many years the public watched her struggle with her now cured cancer.
After getting diagnosed with cancer in 2008, Applegate changed her lifestyle, had a double mastectomy, and had her fallopian tubes and ovaries removed after that. She even started a foundation to provide aid for at-risk women who can’t afford help.
Hang in there darling. You are a force! Sending love. https://t.co/eDOzHa5BnD— Ed Asner (@TheOnlyEdAsner) August 10, 2021
Applegate has also not had to go through all that she has alone with her daughter and husband by her side. The actress revealed that her healthy lifestyle is a family effort that even involved eating homegrown vegetables.
Although the shared clean lifestyle supports Applegate, the actress also revealed that the approach protects her daughter. The “Hall Pass” star revealed that she ensures her daughter also eats clean in case she has the cancer gene.
Spending time with her young daughter is also something that the actress has expressed is important to her. The actress revealed that she had been a stay-at-home mom for two years in an interview in 2017.
She shared that she tries to keep her days stress-free by working at her daughter’s school and being there for her 24/7. However, the actress did pick up work again in 2019 with the Netflix series “Dead To Me.”
Hopefully, Applegate can continue in her stress-free route with her recent diagnosis. Thankfully, she has support from her loved ones and some of the biggest celebrities in the entertainment industry to keep her going.
