One woman particularly has stirred an online frenzy after a video of her selecting bread in a grocery store by touching each one was leaked on TikTok. The disturbing clip showed the masked woman picking up loaves lined in a woven shelf and pulling each one out of the bag.
She proceeded to prod them with her bare hand, repeating the process for all the bread on the shelf before finally selecting one and walking away. A customer on the opposite shelf noticed her, looking somewhat repulsed by her actions but said nothing.

After finally selecting one, the woman held it close and was walking away when a female voice sounded in the background. The voice belonging to the videographer confronted the woman, asking if she planned to buy all the loaves.
Most decided to bake their own bread henceforth.
The Asian woman seemed confused as she probed the woman behind the camera to repeat her question. The voice sounded again, accusing her of touching everything.
The Asian shook her head in response before adding that she only wanted one but had to be sure it was perfect. The videographer then said: "Yeah, but you touched, and you prodded all of the rest of those."
Upon hearing the allegation, the woman said, "sorry," before walking away abruptly. The video has garnered several views and comments, as most netizens call out the woman's actions. One person wrote:
"Why touching the bread?? It's not vegetables or fruits. We don't wash them before we eat… OMG."
Some insisted the store owners needed to compel the woman to buy everything she touched, while most were outraged by her seeming lack of remorse. A TikToker commented: "Then she had the audacity to say 'sorry,' and walk away."

Many users commended the videographer for confronting her, as the woman did not appear to know her actions were wrong. One comment read: "I'm glad you confronted her, but she seems absolutely clueless about her actions. I don't think she quite understands you either."
In response to that, a user pointed out that most people always acted clueless and pretended not to understand a language once they were in the wrong. Hundreds of TikTokers agreed to the response, which has garnered over 340 likes.
Meanwhile, most people called out the poster for opting to make a video instead of attempting to stop the woman from posing health risks to others by touching the loaves.

Via comments, the poster noted that he initially told the woman to stop touching the loaves. When she refused, he rushed off to alert the manager while his wife stayed back to record the video.
The comment sparked more outrage, with many demanding to know the reaction of the managers. Many stressed the dangers of such practices, especially during a pandemic.

Others blamed the store owners for leaving bread on the shelf without sealing them, which is a common practice in stores that offer freshly baked bread that is yet to cool off completely.
The disturbing clip led many TikTokers to conclude that purchasing open packages from grocery stores is unsafe, especially during the pandemic. Most decided to bake their own bread henceforth. Better safe than sorry!
