Singer Britney Spears Reportedly Overjoyed after Reuniting with Dogs Following Altercation with Housekeeper
The “Princess of Pop” is said to be relieved to have her four-legged companions back in her abode after reports that she struck her now-former housekeeper.
During the weekend, sources told TMZ that the dogs were returned to Britney Spears on Friday. The outlet also learned that the dog sitter – who kept the pets for two weeks – returned them and is still very much Spears’ employee.
Another insider told People that the 39-year-old was “thrilled” to be reunited with her dogs before the weekend and explained they are a sensitive breed.
“Her dogs are a sensitive breed that often has health issues. She has gotten clear instructions about how to care for the dogs now,” said the source.
The “Gimme More” hitmaker’s pet dogs fell seriously ill, with one close to death, and her housekeeper believed the only way to save them was an emergency trip to the veterinarian, which turned into the animals being kept away from her entirely.
Sources revealed one of Spears' two pooches has severe digestive issues, and both dogs were supposed to be fed a particular type of food.
It then led to the housekeeper being alarmed when she witnessed the pets regularly being fed table scraps, causing them to become sick.
The housekeeper also disclosed that both dogs were dehydrated from lack of water. Her concern resulted in her taking them to the vet.
Insiders shared that after examining the animals, the vet was alarmed. Therefore, Spears' dog sitter decided to take the dogs and care for them instead of sending them back to her.
The dogs' whereabouts enraged Spears, which caused her to get into an argument with her housekeeper. According to the employee, the star allegedly grabbed her phone and struck her arm in the process.
The housekeeper then filed a report with the Ventura County Sherriff’s Department for an alleged misdemeanor battery incident. A source told People that the housekeeper no longer works for Spears.
Despite the report, Spears' lawyer Mathew Rosengart has denied the allegations leveled against his client and said it was "nothing more than an overblown alleged misdemeanor."
Meanwhile, Spears herself is said to have previously called the police to report her dogs missing on August 10, but she changed her mind and sent them away once they arrived at her home.
