Powerful Message a Husband Left His Wife before Dying on 9/11
Before Brian Sweeney’s plane crashed into the South Tower in 9/11, he left a heartbreaking message for his wife Julie, that is now among the artifacts from the devastating event.
A little over 20 years ago, United Airlines Flight 175 was hijacked by terrorists and crashed into the South Tower of the World Trade Center.
Many lives were lost, including Julie Sweeney Roth’s husband, Brian Sweeney. But before their love story was cut short, Brian left his wife with the most heartfelt parting gift that is now an artifact from the 9/11 crash.

HIS LAST GOODBYE
Brian left a message for his wife, and in a calm tone, said his parting words about three minutes before his plane crashed into the South Tower. He said:
“I’m on an airplane that’s been hijacked. If things don’t go well, and it’s not looking good, I just want you to know I absolutely love you. I want you to do good, go have good times [...].”
According to Julie, her husband knew that he would not make it through the flight; otherwise, he wouldn’t have made the call.

LIVING AS BRIAN WANTED
Julie believes she is lucky to have even heard such parting words from her husband, which allowed her to grant his wish and live life to the fullest. She shared:
“The priority to him in those moments were to let his loved ones know that he loved us and that it was okay to move forward and do what we needed to do.”
She added, “Though he believed he would see us again, he wanted us to know it was all going to be okay no matter how it turned out.”
LIFE SINCE BRIAN
Julie decided to make the voice recording public in 2002, hoping to comfort those who went through the same pain as she did. Admittedly, she sometimes still cries when listening to Brian’s voice.
Frank began his journey in the Arlington Fire Station 5 in Washington and will make it all the way to Ground Zero for his younger brother.
Since the tragic event, Julie has remarried and had two wonderful children. She also volunteered at the 9/11 Tribute Museum for almost ten years.
TRIBUTE TO A 9/11 VICTIM
Recently, another family member of a 9/11 victim, Frank Siller, paid tribute to his brother Stephen Gerard Siller on the 20th anniversary of the terrible attack.
Frank paid tribute to his brother by embarking on a 500-mile walk in the span of six weeks. His “Never Forget Walk” will bring him to six states to make sure people don’t forget the heroes who became victims on that day.
