A bride saved the first dance for her grandfather, who could not make it to her wedding due to the state of his health. She flew over 600 miles to do him the honors, gaining the attention of netizens.
The story of the filial granddaughter, who demonstrated her love for her granddad by giving him her first dance on her wedding day, is making the rounds across media platforms.
According to the reports, the bride, who was based in Virginia, knew her Florida-based grandfather could not make it to her wedding due to his health condition.
Not wanting her 94-year-old grandpa to miss out on her big day, Natalie Browning decided to take the party to Florida. Hence, she boarded a flight from Virginia and flew the 800-mile distance to do him the honors.
She picked up her wedding dress, along with other travel essentials, and made the trip. After getting off at the Florida airport, Browning applied her makeup and carried her wedding dress in a pink bag as she journeyed down to her grandfather's home.
The bride changed into the dress upon her arrival before sharing the well-reserved dance with the elderly man, Nelson May. The 94-year-old was excited to fulfill his longtime wish of dancing with his granddaughter on her wedding day.
Speaking to news outlets, Browning admitted her grandfather had nursed the excitement to dance with her on her wedding night for months. However, he suffered a stroke two weeks before the big day, making him unable to make the trip to Florida.
Becoming grounded by his illness almost stole the chance away from them, but gladly, the bride moved bridges to give him the experience.
Dancing with her grandfather, who she never got to see often, made the day a "very special" one for the bride. Speaking to a news outlet, the 24-year-old, who runs the Virginia-based jewelry shop, Of Great Value, revealed:
"I wanted my grandpa to know that he is incredibly valuable to me, and even though he was unable to come to my wedding, the dance he so desires to have with me was valuable too."
She documented the entire event, from her take-off to the emotional twirling session, sharing the clip on Facebook. The footage showed the gorgeous bride leaving her home, holding on to the wedding dress, making her way through the airport, and boarding the flight.
It also showed her applying her makeup before climbing into an awaiting SUV to continue the trip to her grandpa's home, where she secretly changed into her stunning gown.
Back in June, another video of a special grandfather-granddaughter moment went viral on social media after the girl, Divesha Bajaj, shared it on Instagram.
Netizens went wild with admiration for the duo as they grooved to the song, "Iko Iko," creating treasured memories. Before that, netizens burst with emotions when a video of a bride dancing with her dad, who suffered from ALS, surfaced.
Despite using a wheelchair, the proud daddy twirled his daughter affectionately on the dance floor, ferrying her around in his wheelchair with a contented smile on his face.
The priceless moment left netizens gushing about the father-daughter pair for months, making the wedding a memorable one.
