Do you prefer attending a child-free wedding? Or do you like watching kids play inside the venue? Some people dread having children around them, so they decide to ban children from their wedding. How can someone host a child-free wedding without offending the guests?

If you tell someone that they can't bring their child to your wedding, it decreases their chances of attending the wedding because they will have to look for someone who can take care of their kid when they are away. Some people might also reject the wedding invitation because not inviting their child might offend them.

People who don't invite children do it because kids are noisy and demand attention. They play games and refuse to sit in one place, making their parents run after them. This stops the parents from enjoying the wedding. All they do is look after their children, which is not what the hosts want.

The last thing you want to do on your big day is creating a scene in front of the guests. A Redditor shared that she, as a bride, kicked out a couple for bringing their kid to her child-free wedding. She wasn't planning to do this, but the circumstances made her take this step.

If you invite someone to a child-free wedding, you expect them to come without their children. You don't want children running around and crying because they don't feel comfortable. The Redditor allowed the couple to come with their kids to the wedding ceremony, but she lost her cool when she saw them at the reception.

She asked her event planner to talk to the couple and see if someone would pick the kids. While she was busy with other guests, she saw the couple arguing with the event planner. Immediately, she went over and asked what the fuss was all about.

She told the couple that children weren't allowed here. The groom intervened to see what was going on and got into a heated argument with the children's father. The Redditor cut the discussion short and asked the couple to leave immediately. She asked other users for advice, and one of them said:

Another user put herself in the situation where she was invited to a wedding and wrote, "I have a six-year-old, and even if children were allowed, I would probably still find a sitter. If I'm getting all dolled up to go to a wedding, I want to relax and have fun. I love my little dude, but mommy needs to unwind sometimes."

When someone asks you not to bring your child to their wedding, they mean it. You should follow the rules and leave your children at home. A Redditor shared what happened at their wedding:

BRIDE INVITED A 16-YEAR-OLD TO HER CHILD-FREE WEDDING

While some people don't bend the rules for anyone, others break the rules to accommodate their guests. A woman shared that she and her husband didn't plan on inviting children to their wedding because they didn't have many kids in the family, and they had a low budget.

They had booked seats for every guest, but one of their guests backed out last moment. Since the booking was non-refundable, the couple started looking for someone from the guests who could bring another person with them. They agreed on inviting the woman's best friend's 16-year-old brother, who wasn't an adult as per the law.

One of the bride's aunts came up to her during the wedding event and started complaining about why the 16-year-old boy was allowed and not her 2-year-old grandchild. Other guests also talked about how unfair the bride was to let her best friend bring her brother. She asked other users for advice, and one of them said:

IS IT OK TO HAVE CHILD-FREE WEDDINGS?

Should people stop hosting child-free weddings because there's always someone who gets offended? The bride and groom have the right to choose who they want to invite. If they agree on not inviting children to their wedding, then that's entirely unobjectionable.

However, the couple should inform their guests about the no-kids policy well before time, so they can make the necessary arrangements to leave their kids at home. According to a survey, only 9% of people agree to ban children from weddings, while 25% of them think everyone should be allowed to come with their kids.

If every guest shows up with kids, the bride and groom will have to make arrangements to cater to the children. That means they will have to increase their budget and spend money to set up activities to keep the kids busy. Moreover, if the bride and groom have kids in the immediate family, then they can't go for a kid-free wedding.

What they can do is specify which children are allowed to attend the wedding. Doing so will offend some people who want to bring their kids, but the bride and groom can explain why they have invited limited guests. After all, it's their wedding, and they get to decide who is invited.

If the bride and groom have decided to invite specific children, they should ask their parents to make sure their children don't run around or create a mess. The parents need to take full responsibility for their child so that other guests don't get disturbed by their presence.

It is OK to have a child-free wedding, but you need to be clear about your terms and conditions well in advance. Your guests need to be on the same page with you so that they don't ruin your big day by creating a scene. Even if you invite a child to your wedding last minute, you should take your guests in confidence.

If you invite a child to your child-free wedding last minute, you can send out an exception note explaining what made you take this step. Doing so will ensure no guest steps up and says mean things to you for bending the rule for someone else's kid.

What do you think? Should the bride and groom explain their choice of having a child-free wedding to their guests? Being clear about their expectations will ensure their guests aren't offended.
