Emily Ratajkowski recently announced the arrival of her book, “My Body,” which includes essays inspired by the model’s experiences. The book is described as a text that explores sexuality, feminism, and the male gaze.

As a model, Ratajkowski is aware that her body and sexuality are commodities in the industry. However, she is unafraid to tackle the challenges and problematic practices she has faced during her time in front of the camera.

As a result, Ratajkowski shined a light on an incident that occurred while filming on the set of Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines.” The model revealed the singer allegedly groped her bare breasts from behind.

She claims the Canadian pop singer was a little bit drunk while on set, which made her feel slightly uncomfortable. Ratajkowski also revealed she was at ease with her nudity before the alleged incident.

Music video director Diane Martel supported Ratajkowski’s claims of what happened on the set. She even revealed that she yelled at the artist to stop the shoot before sharing his shocking response to the situation:

“Robin sheepishly apologized. As if he knew it was wrong without understanding how it might have felt for Emily.”

Now that the news of the alleged incident has spread over multiple headlines, Ratajkowski finally sees Thicke being held accountable. However, she had to wait for years to let it happen on her terms.

When asked why she did not protest the alleged groping incident on set sooner, she answered honestly. The then-24-year-old was not ready to give up her aspirations, as explained by the present-day supermodel:

“I was an unknown model, and if I had spoken out or complained, I would not be where I am today; I would not be famous.”

Thankfully, Ratajkowski may have felt redemption over the past few years while watching Thicke receive criticism over the track. Many people pointed out that the song lyrics were problematic as they alluded to nonconsensual sexual encounters.

Song collaborator Pharell Williams even denounced his involvement in the 2013 hit song that made the Billboard 100. Ratajakowski’s claims have now simply reopened the conversation about the misogynistic tune.

Social media users who had come across the supermodel’s claims took to Twitter to denounce the song once again. Some even brought up that Marvin Gaye’s estate sued Thicke for copyright infringement in 2015.

Thankfully, Ratajkowski could still maintain her confidence after the alleged incident on the music video set. Hopefully, no other young woman will feel the need to protect their careers the way she had to in the future.
