Seeing two Hollywood stars like John Stamos and Rebecca Romijn walk down the aisle is a dream come true for most fans. Although the union failed to last long, it provided fans with some of the best romantic gestures.

Stamos is widely beloved for his role as Uncle Jessie in the hit movie "Full House." His nice-guy approach, alongside his good looks and talent, made it easy for fans to spot him from the crowd.

Romijn became an instant hit when she launched her career in the early '90s as a model. The leggy, blonde model later took up acting, and she made the switch almost naturally and secured roles in hit movies such as "X-Men," and "Ugly Betty."

Most movie lovers have often wondered why the best of stars never stick together. The likes of Brad Pitt and Jennifer Anniston, Miley Cyrus, and Liam Hemsworth have been splits that shook the world, but Stamos and Romijn's divorce was also a surprise.

Like many other stars, the '90s gave the world some of the best celebrity romances, and Stamos and his former wife are a part of that list. The former couple met in 1994 backstage at a Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in New York.

Things started romantically for the actor and the supermodel, and they were a lovely sight to behold. Their first date was in Disneyland, and the duo would go on to enjoy a thrilling adventure together.

Speaking of their meeting, a lovestruck Romijn recalled seeing the handsome Greek-born actor holding a guitar in his hands and, as always, looking loveable and charming. But, in her wildest dreams, she never imagined them hand-in-hand, walking down the aisle.

THE NAKED ENGAGEMENT

By 1997, the "Full House" star was convinced he had found his true love and staged the most dramatic proposal. According to reports, after an intense massage session, Stamos got down on one knee, surrounded by candlelights, and with no clothes on except a warm smile, popped the big question.

Also, the funny night featured a cigar band which served as a placeholder until a four-carat emerald-cut Boucheron diamond in a platinum setting could replace it.

Shortly after their dramatic moment, both stars enjoyed a stunning 1998 wedding at the iconic Beverly Hills Hotel. Romijn looked dazzling in a Badgley Mischka dress which she paired with a cathedral-length Chantilly-lace veil.

Being married was one of the most nervous moments for the "Big Shot" actor, who admitted to having felt uneasy before the occasion, which was an alien emotion for him as a showbiz star.

The couple thrilled their crowd with their identical vows despite penning them in separate rooms. At that point, it looked like Hollywood had finally found the romance that would go down as legendary in its records.

Things looked rosy between the duo in the first few years of their union, but it was only a matter of time before they joined the long list of divorced celebrity couples.

THE DIVORCE

After five years together, both stars announced their divorce in 2005. Reports noted that the divorce was amicable and there were no third parties or cheating scandals; instead, it was a case of irreconcilable difference.

While the couple claimed things simply didn't work, some fans believe it was down to their different opinions and desires about starting a family. Although such claims were dismissed by both camps, it was noted that Stamos had longed to be a father, but Romijn was not open to starting a family.

Their divorce was not only shocking to their fans; it was heartbreaking for both stars. Stamos, 58, admitted that he felt like a failure following the crash of his much-publicized union, while Romijn admitted to being depressed shortly after the split.

THEIR PARTNERS

It's been more than a decade since Stamos and his former supermodel bride signed the papers that annulled their union, and aside from furthering their careers, the former lovebirds have found love again.

"Fuller House" actor Stamos married actress/writer Caitlin McHugh in 2018. The duo dated for more than two years and share a toddler son, Billy, making Stamos a proud dad.

On her part, Romijn did not spend much time in the singles world. Two years after her split from Stamos, she tied the knot with "Crossing Jordan" actor Jerry O'Connell, with whom she shares twin daughters, Dolly and Charlie, born in 2008.

In a chat with Justin Long, Stamos admitted that he and Romijn had both moved on and are focused on their families. He added that he and his wife, McHugh, live close to his ex, but there is nothing but respect and admiration between both families.
