To date, Barr remains a force to reckon with in Hollywood with applaudable milestones. However, her stay in the movie industry became filled with controversy.
BARR FACES CRITICISM FOR RACIST COMMENT
Barr experienced one of the biggest scandals in 2018 when the comedy series "Roseanne" returned. Reuniting the cast of the sitcom was welcomed news by Americans, including former US President Donald Trump.
After the show's premiere on March 27, 2018, Trump, who was one of the biggest fans of the series, called the actress to congratulate her on the massive success of the debut.
A whopping 18.2 million viewers had tuned in to the premiere, producing the highest-rated comedy network telecast in four years. However, the accolades Barr received soon turned to a series of backlashes.
On May 28, 2018, the actress posted a racist tweet about Barack Obama's former aide, Valerie Jarrett, that made a derogatory comparison involving the movie "Planet of the Apes" and religion.
Barr's tweet stirred up a lot of reactions from netizens and fellow celebrities. In a tweet, actress Rita Moreno stated that the former presidential candidate was a sorry excuse for a human being.
The actress moved to her Hawaii home from Los Angeles in 2018, after the scandal.
Civil rights icon John Lewis also made his thoughts known. He noted that in their society, there was no room for racism or bigotry. Another celebrity, Shonda Rhimes, wrote that Barr made a choice, a racist one.
Several people weighed in, and while they showed disappointment in Barr's tweet, they also asked that she apologize for her racist comment. The producer heeded the advice and sent an apology, tagging her tweet as a "bad joke."
PAYING THE PRICE
Even though Barr apologized, the damage was done, and "Roseanne" paid the price. Television network ABC's entertainment president, Channing Dungey, revealed in a statement that they were canceling the series.
Dungey explained that Barr's statement was repugnant, abhorrent, and inconsistent with their values. The chief executive of Walt Disney Company, Robert Iger, added that ABC's decision was correct.
WHO IS TO BLAME?
Many months after the scandal, Barr sat down with The Washington Post and made a shocking revelation. The star noted that her former co-star, Sara Gilbert, who acted as Barr's on-screen daughter in "Roseanne," was the reason behind the show's cancellation.
Gilbert condemned Barr's racist comment with a post on Twitter, and the latter claimed that the tweet was the real reason the revival sitcom got canceled. In her response, Gilbert affirmed that she is still considered a part of the Barr family despite everything.
Since the scandal, the actress has lived a pretty private life, quietly celebrating her wins and new milestones. In April, she became a grandmother for the seventh time, after her son, Jake, welcomed a baby daughter.
INSIDE BARR'S LUXURY HOME
These days, Barr looks very different and is enjoying her life with her longtime partner, Johnny Argent, in her 46-acre mansion in Hawaii. According to Virtual Globe Trotting, the icon purchased that apartment in 2007 for 1.78 million dollars.
Barr's luxurious property is 2,212 square feet. It comes with three bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms. Several pictures shared on her Instagram page show the different parts of the mansion.
A part of her massive apartment offers gorgeous views of her sprawling land, a beautiful garden filled with beautiful flowers, and a palm tree. Barr also has a piano in her living room, which her lovely partner usually plays.
The walls are painted green, and the apartment's exterior has a lovely sculpture, chairs for relaxation, and green flowers, adding a touch of serenity.
The actress moved to her Hawaii home from Los Angeles in 2018, after the scandal. Upon her move from California, Barr listed one of the two El Segundo homes she owned for 3.5 million dollars.
Currently, she is living happily. Once in a while, she updates her Instagram fans on her activities in her Hawaii mansion with snapshots and videos, leaving fans clamoring for more.
