'When He Said, 'I'm Gay,' I Didn't Really Care': Straight Mom-Of-Two Finds Happiness with a Gay Man
Brynn and Matthew share what many may deem a controversial and confusing relationship. However, despite the naysayers, the two are entirely content together, their love outshining any dark rhetoric that may come their way.
Thirty-five-year-old Brynn Embley and her husband, 33-year-old Matthew Nielson, are faithful churchgoers of the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter-Day Saints, more well known as the Mormon Church.
In Mormonism, same-sex marriage is prohibited, which is strange for this couple as they both are involved in what they refer to as a mixed-orientation marriage, with a backstory as odd as it is beautiful.

FROM ACROSS THE ROOM
Unaware of their upcoming incredible journey together, these two future lovers met at church in 2016, where Embley was immediately attracted to him. She expressed:
"He sticks out, not just because of his height, but also because of his curly hair, infectious smile, and exuberance for life."
They introduced themselves to one another and soon began dating. After a while, Matthew plucked up the courage to let her know that he is, in fact, gay, and to his ultimate shock, his future spouse didn't mind.
THE UNEXPECTED
Brynn clearly remembers the day because he appeared so intense when divulging this information while she didn't find it that serious. She expressed:
"It just wasn't a huge deal, he was with me, his choice - what else mattered?"
The 35-year-old said she was already well aware that there was no passionate sexual chemistry between them, but this was not a deal-breaker.
UNDER THE SHEETS
They eventually tied the knot and had children together; Guinevere, who is one year old, and Amandine, two years old. Having never been with a man or woman sexually, the now-husband was worried that he wouldn't enjoy intercourse with a lady. However, Matthew stated:
"But that being said, we do enjoy having sex and being together in that way, which is a relief!"
Either way, the couple does not see this chemistry as vital to a relationship or marriage. Brynn believes that compatibility is much more critical in a serious relationship.
IT'S NOT THAT COMPLICATED
Since then, Matthew has also expanded on his sexuality, summing it up as pansexual yet more attracted to men. On top of that, the husband has explained that they are not attempting to force their relationship onto anyone, stating:
"We are not recommending that folks enter mixed-orientation marriages, just sharing ours."

At the end of the day, whatever their companionship may seem or look like to other people, the couple's choice on how they approach their love life is up to them. As was written in one of their recent Instagram posts, "Love who you love. That is all."
