Inside Mel Gibson’s $425m Divorce with Ex-wife Robyn Who Was a Dental Nurse When They Met
"Mad Max's" Mel Gibson and his dental nurse wife Robyn Moore had one of Hollywood's most expensive divorces after three-decades-long marriage and about half a dozen kids. Here is a look at their $425m divorce proceedings.
As an actor, film director, producer, and screenwriter Mel Gibson kept many viewers glued to their TVs with his great productions. With his mastery on set, Gibson earned himself unmatched global fame.
Best known for playing heroic roles and his perfect physique, Gibson earned himself the title of the "Sexiest Man Alive." Some of his acting credits include great films such as "Fatman" "Blood Father," "Braveheart" and "Mad Max."
FAN FAVOURITE GIBSON
In 1995, Gibson was honored with the Golden Globe Award for Best Director for his movie "Braveheart," which he not only directed but starred in and produced. He also won the Academy Award for Best Director and the Academy Award for Best Picture for this movie.
However, as a young actor, while Gibson, who is now 66-year-old was getting more fame and enjoying all the attention that comes with being a public figure, he also found love with a dental nurse. Gibson was married for the first time to Robyn Moore Gibson.

GIBSON AND ROBYN'S LOVE STORY
Gibson and Robyn, who was a dental nurse, in the late '70s, met when the actor had already had his breakthrough role in "Mad Max." The "Lethal Weapon" actor was smitten with Robyn, and their love affair led to a 30-year marriage.
Throughout the entirety of their relationship, Gibson and Robyn had seven children. The couple has one daughter Hannah and six sons Edward, Christian, William, Louis, Milo, and Thomas.

Gibson and the mother of his seven kids stayed married for decades only to end what once seemed like the perfect union in a highly publicized divorce. And, in a tape secretly recorded by the actor's then-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva he said:
"I left my wife because we had no spiritual common ground."
The couple had one of the most highly-priced divorce payouts in Hollywood's history. During divorce proceedings, reports showed that Robyn was to walk away with half the actor's fortune as the couple never had a prenuptial agreement.

Among Gibson's assets was 100-plus million in real estate investments worldwide and $75 million in film and TV projects. He also had more than $600 million grossed by "The Passion of the Christ" alone.
$425 MILLION DIVORCE
The actor's fortune was estimated to be as high as $850 million, leaving Robyn with $425 million in their divorce settlement. Interestingly, she is also entitled to half of any future check Gibson receives for the rest of his life.
Gibson and his first wife started having marital issues in the 2000s. However, they did not separate until 2006 when the actor got arrested for driving under the influence, which affected his career.

Robyn stayed married to Gibson, but by 2009 she filed for divorce after finding out that the "Braveheart" actor's Russian pianist girlfriend Grigorieva was pregnant. Although Robyn left Gibson to enjoy his affair with Grigorieva, the romance later turned ugly.
BITTER CUSTODY BATTLE WITH GRIGORIEVA
Shortly after Grigorieva had Gibson's daughter Lucia, their relationship went downhill, with Grigorieva first coming out with abuse claims and then their highly publicized custodial battle. The two fought over custodial finances for a long time before Gibson paid a price that settled it all.
The A-list actor and his ex eventually resolved their long-standing custodial battle when the actor agreed to pay $750,000 to Grigorieva. He also agreed to continue paying for the multimillion-dollar home he purchased for her and Lucia.

Gibson provided additional financial support for the child. The child support he agreed to pay was equal to what his other seven children with Robyn got. However, reports later surfaced that the Russian pianist only got $250,000 for child support instead of the promised $15 million.
It happened after Gibson, 66, discovered she had been secretly keeping recordings of him. She finally got an increment under the condition that she left his $2.4 million rental home in Sherman Oaks, California.
Gibson, who was paying around $20k a month, increased the paycheck to just under $30k, bringing his pianist ex- girlfriend's child support to nearly $360,000 a year. Grigorieva agreed to the change, which included moving out of Gibson's rental home.

However, once they signed the new deal, Grigorieva forfeited their agreement by releasing tapes that had ill contents about Gibson. She also spoke about the actor during an interview in 2013.
Her actions left The Californian Court of Appeal with no option but to deny her the remaining $500,000 of the then already reduced $750,000 agreement.
However, Gibson did address the tapes his ex-girlfriend released. When asked about the ill statements he made on the records during an interview, the actor stated that he said those words in anger and regretted his actions.

The tapes Grigorieva released had disturbing content, and it sure sounded like the words of an angry man. A part of the record release had Gibson ranting:
"Tell me that's a message or something. Because you're doing something. Trying to breast feed with, uh, [expletive] foreign bodies in you."
GIBSON'S EX FILED FOR BANKRUPTCY
Grigorieva made headlines again, this time for her bankruptcy claims. The pianist once came out about being more than $400,000 in debt and having only $10 in her possession.

Court documents revealed that Grigorieva got $20,000 monthly from Gibson for their daughter Lucia. She also received $2,500 in child support from former James Bond actor Timothy Dalton for their son Alexander.
However, Grigorieva claimed most of her debts came from her legal bill during the court battle with her "Braveheart" ex-boyfriend. According to Grigorieva, she owed five lawyers $250,000.
Although the pianist claimed her court battle made her bankrupt, reports later surfaced that she spent $51,000 just before coming out about her $438,000 debts. It was also revealed that many of her expenses were labeled frivolous by the bankruptcy trustee who handled her case.

WHO IS GIBSON'S CURRENT GIRLFRIEND?
"The Passion of the Christ" actor has found love again with his longtime girlfriend, Rosalind Ross. And, he is stopping at nothing to show off his love for the brunette beauty.
They started dating in 2014, and they met when Rosalind was signed to co-write a script for Gibson's production company. Rosalind majored in literature at Emerson College, and she is a screenwriter.
