Marques Houston's Wife Miya Shares Snaps with Their Infant Daughter - He Once Had to Defend Their Engagement
The wife of former "Sister, Sister" actor Marques Houston already revealed why she chose their baby's name and how to pronounce it correctly.
Marques Houston, who played Roger Evans on "Sister, Sister," and his wife Miyana Houston welcomed their daughter, Zara, on December 2, 2021. However, their journey to marriage and parenthood was not easy.
In March 2019, Houston announced on Instagram that Miya said "YES" to his proposal. He shared a close-up picture of their hands interlocking with the gorgeous ring on display.

Unfortunately, following the happy news, the newly-engaged couple were met with backlash as many questioned the couple's almost 20 year age gap and the age of Miya when the couple met and started dating.
Houston then took to Instagram to confront the alleged stories about his love life as "this is not music or television, this is my family, my future wife and my life." He continued:
" Miya and I didn’t start dating until she was an adult. We fell in love and got engaged in March of 2019."
He explained that the couple met at a Jehovah Witness convention. Miya also met Chris Stokes, who is like a father to her, and Stokes' daughter, Chrissy Morales. The two women are now very close.
Houston also cleared up speculation that Miya worked on one of his projects as an Art Director. Houston explained that her name appearing on one of his films on IMDB was either "a misprint or someone being messy."
Despite any backlash the pair might have received, they married in August 2020 at Eagle Glen Golf Club in Corona, California. Their guest list was kept small due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Houston and his bride share a strong bond over their religion as they both regularly bring up their faith when celebrating their relationship. Recently the couple celebrated the birth of their first child together.
Both parents shared the news of Zara Denise Houston's birth on their respective Instagram accounts. Fans were surprised to learn about the baby as neither parent had shared they were expecting.
Alongside a few gorgeous snaps of the proud parents and their adorable baby, Miya wrote that Zara was born on December 2, 2021, and that she was blessed to be Zara's mother.
One curious fan commented on the post and asked how "Zara" was pronounced. Miya revealed the name, which she chose because it sounded "exotic," is pronounced "Zarrah."
