Alicia Witt Recently Lost Both Parents - Her Mother Was Once a Guinness World Record Holder

Former child star Alicia Witt has devastatingly lost both her parents recently, just before the holidays. Just six months ago, Witt praised her dad on Father's Day, and now she is mourning him and her mom.

Actress Alicia Witt recently learned that her mother and father were found deceased. According to multiple reports, bodies of Robert Witt, 87, and Diane Witt, 75, were found at their Massachusetts home on December 20. Alicia released a statement to E! News:

“I reached out to a cousin who lives close to my parents to check on them. Sadly, the outcome was unimaginable.”

DEATH ANNOUNCEMENT

The 46-year-old is asking for privacy to grieve for her loved ones and to come to terms with “this turn of events, and this surreal loss.”

According to the police, there was no evidence of foul play, but the case is under investigation, and the medical examiner's office will determine the cause of death.

THE LIFE OF THE COUPLE

A neighbor revealed that the couple rarely stepped out of their home, and when other neighbors offered help when their house fell into disrepair, they politely declined.

Alicia’s mom was a Guinness World Record Holder for catching fish with her then 10-foot auburn tresses, and her spouse Robert used to help wash her locks for hours.

However, instead of talking about the extraordinary act, the pair preferred talking more about their children. Diane said at the time:

"We've kind of tried to put the hair in the background because of the kids."

CHILD PRODIGIES

Alicia was only twelve years old, and her brother Ian Rob Witt was only nine and were considered budding child prodigies destined for the concert piano tour.

Alicia is a pianist and used to play piano on weekends at a local eatery. At age eleven, she played at Mozart sonatas and Broadway ballads.

Like her, Ian was also interested in music and acting from a young age. He only appeared on "Liebestraum" (1991), and since then, the award-winning pianist has kept a low profile.

PAYING TRIBUTES

In May 2017, Alicia posted a clip of her mother playing drums on Twitter and shared that a drummer had left his kit behind. She wished Diane a Mother’s Day.

She paid tribute to her mother again in May 2020 and shared an image posing with Diane smiling. Alicia wrote that it was difficult to find a way to plan her next visit to see her mom for Mother’s Day because of the ongoing pandemic.

The "Dune" star celebrated Diane again on Mother's Day in May 2016 and tweeted: "Now a real one. #Opry with my beautiful mom. No one could ever be prouder. I love you! Happy#MothersDay"

In June this year, Alicia wished her dad a happy late Father’s Day and posted a father and daughter photo wearing caps, flashing with the caption:

"To my amazing dad, the wise and hilarious and always curious one, the greatest teacher, and the OG Witty. I am deeply blessed in the dad department, and I know that every day. #Happyfathersday.”

In November 2018, she posted a picture posing side-by-side with her parents during the holidays and tweeted a cameo by her mom and dad on Christmas on Honeysuckle Lane.

HUMBLE BEGINNINGS

In August 2014, Alicia revealed that her family struggled with finances when she was young, adding both her parents were teachers and that her dad made $35,000 a year.

She continued to explain that they never took money for granted, sharing: “Money was always something that we had to be careful of.”
