Angela Lansbury's Life Today: The Iconic Actress Is Still Active & Recently Celebrated Her 96th Birthday
Angela Lansbury has had a long and successful career in Hollywood for almost 80 years. Now, she enjoys spending time with her children and grandkids.
"Murder, She Wrote" star Angela Lansbury celebrated an impressive age milestone last year when she turned 96. The family-focused actress spent time with her family in California to celebrate.
Although Lansbury is getting on with age, she is not ready to hang up her acting boots. Her last big movie, "Mary Poppins Returns," was in 2018. In the film, she portrayed the Balloon Lady.

Lansbury has also been vocal in her thoughts about retirement, or rather that she has no plans to retire. In an interview with David Letterman, she remarked that she would probably pass away with a script in her hand.
The "Bedknobs and Brooms" actress also does not let her older age affect her, as she explained during the same interview that she did not feel 93 (her age at the time). In another interview, Lansbury remarked of her age:
"I've never been particularly aware of my age. It's like being on a bicycle – I just put my foot down and keep going."

Of course, Lansbury has a few secrets to longevity besides keeping busy with acting. She once joked that perhaps the glass of wine she enjoys and the handful of vitamins she takes was what keeps her going.
However, the "Gaslight" actress has offered more serious insight into what has kept her going throughout the years. For starters, she is interested in all aspects of life, including her independence, cooking, driving, and the happenings of her life.

A significant role she is focused on in her life is being a loving grandmother to her grandchildren; as she explained, after her husband, Peter Shaw, died in 2003, she had to rebuild a life of her own, and her grandchildren became a big part of that.
Lansbury has three children, Anthony, Diedre, and her stepson David. Her son Anthony and his wife, Lee, have three children, Peter John Shaw, Katherine Beeson Shaw, and Ian Lansbury Shaw.

After Peter and his wife welcomed a child and made Lansbury a great-grandmother, she remarked that family was her main focus and an immense joy in her life.
Lansbury will turn 97 years old on October 16, 2022, and with her focus on her family, there is no doubt she will spend her 97th year surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
