Candace Cameron Bure Is Still Happy with Her Husband of 25 Years despite Criticism about Their Public Behavior
Although Candace Cameron Bure and her husband, Valeri Bure, have been criticized for their cheeky public behavior, they are about to celebrate their 26th wedding anniversary.
Over three decades ago, Candace Cameron Bure stole people's hearts with her incredible performance of D.J. Tanner in "Full House" alongside Bob Saget, John Stamos, and Lori Loughlin.
Nowadays, she is an actress, producer, and bestselling author. She has been married to retired hockey player Valeri Bure for 25 years and counting, and their relationship has raised eyebrows in the past.

Throughout Valeri's ten seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL), he played for the Montreal Canadiens, Calgary Flames, Florida Panthers, St. Louis Blues, and Dallas Stars.
The former Russian player, who retired in 2004, met Candace in 1994. To commemorate their 25th wedding anniversary, the actress found photos from the night they met.

She posted them on Instagram on June 29, 2021, and they have over 300,000 likes. The first image shows her posing with her "Full House" co-stars Saget, Loughlin, and Dave Coulier at the Luc Robitaille charity hockey game in 1994.
In the caption, Candace explained that Coulier invited them to the event, and it was probably one of the best things he did for her because that's where she met Valeri.

The second picture shows Candace and Loughlin watching the game, and the third one depicts Valeri and his brother, Pavel Bure, talking on the ice. The actress wrote:
"Thank you [Coulier] for taking me to my first hockey game. Thank you Lori for being my wing woman and thank you [Saget] for watching out for me like a dad."

LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT
Candace was immediately attracted to Valeri, and they went on a date the next day. Less than a year later, they were engaged. The couple tied the knot on June 22, 1996.
After the first couple of months [of the pandemic], things got "really hairy."

Over the years, Candace has gushed about her husband and their relationship. Apart from describing him as a bold, passionate, and supportive person, she admitted he made her laugh a lot.
The actress confessed, though, that their marriage had not been perfect. They've gone through tough times, bad attitudes, and poor decisions like any other relationship. Luckily, they have persevered and loved each other through them.
THEIR THREE KIDS ARE GOOD-LOOKING ADULTS
Valeri and Candace started having children in 1998, two years after walking down the aisle. Their eldest is Natasha, who followed in her mom's footsteps and became an actress.
Natasha has worked with Candace on a few projects, including "Fuller House" and "Switched for Christmas." Although she is only 23, she has already starred in two T.V. films, "Home Sweet Home" and "The Farmer and the Belle."
Sons Lev and Maksim joined the family in 2000 and 2002, and they play hockey like their dad. Lev, 21, is deeply into religion as he became a preacher at Shepherd Church in Los Angeles.
He made headlines in August 2020 after announcing his engagement to Taylor Hutchinson. However, Candace revealed that Hutchinson and Lev decided to part ways in April 2021.
Maksim, 20, enrolled at Liberty University, a Christian college in Virginia, in 2021. As a hockey prospect, he is part of the university's team. Only time will tell if he will play in the NHL like his dad and uncle.
THE PANDEMIC TESTED THEIR FAMILY
Candace pointed out that she learned a lot about herself during the pandemic, but it also spotlighted her faults. After the first couple of months, things got "really hairy. She explained:
"All the things that we have avoided for years talking about, they all surfaced and they were in our face, and it was unavoidable to actually have these discussions."
Luckily, having their children watching them all the time helped them avoid shattering. Lev even gave them a 45-minute sermon on what God's words said about how they needed to work things out.
"I believe God is the secret sauce."
After such a rough patch, their relationship grew "closer and tighter." Candace said that relationships always have hills and valleys, but you feel like you can accomplish anything when you come out of the valleys.
RECEIVING BACKLASH FOR SHOWING PDA
In 2020, Valeri and Candace's relationship made headlines after posting a cheeky photo of Valeri with his hand resting on her breast.
Some naysayers believed it was "inappropriate." They criticized the post so much that the actress deleted it. She posted videos on her Instagram Stories responding to her naysayers a while later.

She admitted that all the "Christians" questioning her post made her laugh because Valeri had been her husband for over two decades. They have "so much fun together," and he can touch her any time he wants, "and I hope he does."
After saying she was not sorry about the image, Candace pointed out that they had a healthy marriage and relationship.
SECRET TO THEIR SUCCESSFUL MARRIAGE
Speaking of healthy relationships, Candace has shared the secrets to their long marriage: be playful and loving. She added that grace, communication, sex, laughter, and patience were also crucial. Candace confessed:
"I believe God is the secret sauce. I have more love for this man today than the day we married each other. And I know he does for me. Praise the Lord."
The "Fuller House" star also admitted to being submissive in her marriage because Valeri was a natural-born leader. To honor his take-charge personality and not get frustrated about him wanting to have the final decision on everything, she has a submissive role.
Candace described her submissiveness as "meekness, not weakness." It is all about keeping her strength under control. Finally, putting your spouse on a pedestal is very important.
Valeri respects Candace just as much as she does. While some days neither of them deserves to be put on a pedestal, they still do it because they honor and respect each other. Way to go!
