Famous British actress Kate Winslet was on vacation with her kids when a fire broke out. In their bid to get to safety, the doting mother stumbled upon the man who would turn out to be her third husband.
Superstar actress Kate Winslet, a popular figure in Hollywood since her record-breaking performance in "Titanic," has dazzled fans with brilliant performances over the years.
The British superstar has a movie catalog that many veteran actors can only fantasize. She recently added a Golden Globe to her ever-growing trophy cabinet, a fitting reward for her gritty performance on HBO's limited series, "Mare of Easttown."

Away from her on-screen feats, the British-born star has been under the media spotlight and has faced significant scrutiny in recent years due to her personal life.
Winslet is currently married for the third time, having been through two failed marriages; one was to Jim Threapleton, which lasted from 1998 till 2001, welcoming daughter Mia in 2000.
After their divorce, she met and married movie director Sam Mendes in 2003, and the pair welcomed their child, Joe, the same year. They subsequently separated in 2010, finalizing their divorce the following year.
The actress has been under fire due to these failed relationships, but she defended herself, explaining she knows many ordinary people who have gone through several failed marriages.
Winslet declared she never planned or wished to have been involved in two failed marriages, but it's the cards life dealt her, and she is taking it in stride.
She revealed it has not been easy because no one knows what goes on in her life or the reasons for her failed marriages, and she hopes to keep it that way. However, the actress revealed her children have good relationships with their fathers, but she is happy they live with her.
WINSLET'S CHILDREN
"Titanic" star Kate Winslet is a doting mother to three children. Her first child, Mia Honey Threapleton, was born in 2000 from her marriage to Jim Threapleton.
As mentioned earlier, her second child, Joe, is from her second marriage to movie director Sam Mendes. The actress, who is currently married to Edward Abel Smith, welcomed her third child, Bear Blaze, in 2013.
The actress, who keeps her personal life private, revealed she makes a point to take care of her responsibilities and does not have a chef or driver.
Winslet's eldest child, Mia, follows her mother's footsteps, making her on-screen debut in the movie "Shadows" in 2020.
The young actress revealed that she did not spend much time around the movie sets her mother worked on because it was always a special treat when she did.
Now that Mia is an actress herself, the youngster explained the experience is different from watching her mother on set. Even though a lot of hard work goes into acting, she loves every second of it.
On the other hand, Winslet's second child, Joe, is very musical. So even though he lives most of his life under the spotlight, the young boy is working towards being a music star.
Meanwhile, Winslet explained that her youngest child, Bear, is hilarious. The adorable youngster has even asked her mom to sign him up for acting.
FACING CRITICISM
The Golden Globe winner addressed critics who assume her children are finding it difficult to cope because of her divorce from their fathers.
Winslet explained she had faced criticism all her life, and it does not faze her, but the belief that her children are going through a lot is false.
She revealed her kids are always with her, and they are not flown from pillar to post or going back and forth with nannies. There is also no case of shared custody with their fathers because the kids live with her.
MEETING ABEL SMITH
Winslet met her husband, Edward Abel Smith, who was once known as "Ned Rocknroll" under dramatic circumstances.
In 2011, the actress and her kids Mia and Joe were vacationing on Necker Island, a private island owned by billionaire Richard Branson, when a fire broke out.
Abel, Branson's nephew, stayed at an adjacent building on the Island and was the only guy who had a head torch and a pair of shoes while they all tried to escape the fire.
The actress, who was with her kids, and only had a bra on, became very close to Smith afterward. The pair got engaged in 2012 before they got married a year later. The couple welcomed their child, Bear Blaze, a short time after.
THEIR BURGEONING RELATIONSHIP
In 2015, Winslet praised her husband for being so supportive and fun. She thanked God for him and declared Abel was everything to her.
Her husband changed his name back to his birth name after going as his pseudonym Ned Rocknroll for a while because Winslet asked him to.
According to the actress, it was weird for her to use the name Rocknroll whenever she filled out the doctor's form. Abel also added Winslet as his middle name because their kids also use it. Winslet praised the actor for always being there for her. She said:
"He's the superhot, superhuman, stay-at-home dad. "He looks after us, especially me."
She labeled him an extraordinary life partner and explained Abel was not actively looking to marry a celebrity who was always judged by the public before they met.
Winslet declared despite Abel having dyslexia; he is still a very great person. Although he finds it challenging to read aloud, Abel still makes an effort to do so.
Winslet also finds it funny that in contrast to having a rock 'n' roll character like his pseudonym suggested, in her words, Abel is "Zen; he's vegan, does yoga, breathwork, and cold water swims."
The actress also spoke about the beautiful reason they named their son Bear. Winslet had always loved the name because she had a friend by the same name when she was young.
Her childhood friend was everyone's shoulder to cry on and a significant figure in Winslet's life, so it was not difficult to name her son after him.
Winslet praised all three of her kids for being the most incredible people in her life and her husband, Abel, who she hopes to live with for the rest of her life.
