Look inside Nina Dobrev’s Spanish-Styled Residence Where She Spent Lockdown with New Boyfriend
Nina Dobrev bought the house she currently lived in around five years ago. She decided to renovate the property during the pandemic, and the results are incredible!
Nina Dobrev’s West Hollywood home was built in the late-1920s. She described the estate, renovated by Charlie Barstein Interiors, as having Spanish-style influence in its architecture and a sense of European elegance.
In October 2021, she told Architectural Digest that she’d had the home for around five years. One of the things Dobrev wanted to preserve about the house was its natural state with items that complimented it.

RENOVATING THE HOME
The star also revealed that the house’s exterior had been yellow, typical for Spanish homes. However, she’d wanted to change the color for the longest of times, and being in lockdown and quarantine because of the pandemic, meant she had no excuse to delay the change.
She enlisted her boyfriend’s help, and they painted the home’s exterior white together. The actress confessed that the first few days were exciting, but they quickly started realizing that they’d bitten off more than they could chew.

THE BACKYARD
The home’s backyard was designed to be quite cozy and wasn’t too large. It was furnished with plants all around, and in one of the shots, a table with chairs was seen perched in the center.
The space also had an entertainment area. The “Degrassi” star’s backyard featured a swimming pool and what used to be a poolhouse but was transformed into a gym during the coronavirus pandemic.
The poolhouse was changed because Dobrev started becoming anxious from being cooped up in the house during the lockdown. So she bought gym equipment because she needed to work out.
She confessed that she’d started using the space more now that it was a gym than before. The room boasted lots of cupboard space and a big red Smeg fridge where the actress said she kept all the good stuff.
THE LIVING ROOM & FIREPLACE
Walking into the house, the first room one comes across is the living room. The space continued the cozy and warm feel from the rest of the home and held a fireplace as the centerpiece.
Dobrev explained that she designed the fireplace to contrast the rest of the room to stick out. The star wanted the house also to have an airy feel, and the living room brought in natural light.
It was designed with comfortable carpets and couches that had lots of pillows. The backyard featured some flowers perched all around, candles, books, and light decorations.
THE GUEST ROOM
The guest room was also designed to have a cozy feel that was welcoming and inviting. The room boasted fun pillows; some created in plaid and some furs for decoration.
NINA’S BEDROOM
“The Vampire Diaries” actress’s bedroom had the same look and feel as her guest room. It had a light and airy feel, and she demonstrated how her bed was perfect for jumping on by throwing herself on it.
A longhorn skull was perched on the top of her bed. Dobrev confessed that the skeleton head was quite heavy, and she worried that it could fall off the wall onto her head, so she had it properly secured.

THE BATHROOM
The bathroom was covered in blue tiles and mainly white appliances and furniture. The star said she hadn’t done much work in that room, and it kept items that were put in during the 1920s.
DOBREV’S MOVIE ROOM
The room that the star spent most of her time in was her movie room, where she watched television. The space looked quite inviting, with some bright colors everywhere but the same feel from the rest of the home.

BIGGEST RENOVATION – THE KITCHEN
When the actress moved into the home, a wall separated the kitchen and the dining room in the original 1929 structure. Dobrev had it removed in 2020 because she wanted a more open-plan design.
The wall had caused the kitchen to be cramped up, but the star never used it anyway because she was always traveling across the country on different shoots. However, being older meant she wanted better, stating:
“My old kitchen was my 20s kitchen, and now this is my adult, 30s kitchen.”

The kitchen floor was designed with reclaimed European terracotta tiles that are all unique. The tiles were textured, and some had imperfections which Dobrev liked because it felt lived in and European.
“The Perks of Being a Wallflower” star had the walls tiles looking like subway ones. Each tile was different and had imperfections, and the star admitted she loved mixing materials as she showed off her kitchen.
The kitchen also boasted a very cozy breakfast nook. The area welcomed in natural light and had couches where one could lounge, eat, read a newspaper, or any other morning ritual.
The following month, Us Weekly confirmed that the star [Nina Dobrev] and the professional snowboarder [Shaun White] were in fact a couple.
Besides the couches, it also had lots of pillows for comfortability and a large table in the center. Dobrev revealed that the area used to be smaller until she added a second bench and other accessories.

THE DINING ROOM
The star’s dining room was equally cozy as the rest of the house, with organic materials and many kinds of wood used. It featured a large solid oak dining table with chairs and a bench on one side to fit more people.
NINA’S BOYFRIEND
The person who helped Dobrev paint the exterior of her home was her boyfriend, Shaun White. Dating rumors between the two began in February 2020 when fans noticed that the actress and White had shared similar photos from a trip to South Africa.
In March 2020, the pair were photographed together during a bike ride in Malibu. The following month, Us Weekly confirmed that the star and the professional snowboarder were, in fact, a couple.
Dobrev made her relationship Instagram official in May 2020 when she shared a photo of herself holding a pair of scissors while White jokingly looked afraid. The couple ended up quarantining together during the pandemic.
