The Rings of Power are connected to Middle-earth's history and many of its tales, creating the environment depicted in the J.R.R. Tolkien novels and movies.
The series is set in the Second Age of Middle-earth, thousands of years before the films and movies. The show follows the characters as they confront the re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth.
The showrunners J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay in a statement that the series "unites all the major stories of Middle-Earth's second age: the forging of the rings, the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron, the epic tale of Númenor and the Last Alliance of Elves and Men."
The series plot could focus on tales from the Second age, including Sauron seizing most of the rings and giving them to Men, who decayed into undead ringwraiths, dwarfs so their lust for precious metals intensified, and Elves.
The show might focus on the tale of Númenor, a star-shape Island consisting of a nation of men of powerful and wise that the defeated Dark Lord Sauron. However, they became power-hungry and feared death, despite their long lifespans.
Envious of the immortal Elves, Ar-Pharazôn, the last king, and the Númenoreans go West to attack Blessed Realm to force the gods to grant them eternal life. However, it does not end well, and eventually, the One Ring gets lost in a river for two millennia.
Although fans have a lot of speculation and excitement about where Amazon will take the storyline, they will not have to wait much longer as the platform will release the long-waited series in September 2022.
