HOW DID THE COUPLE MEET?
Couric first met her banker husband in 2012. In her book "Going There," the author revealed how she found the man of her dreams more than ten years after her husband's death. Couric explained that she sought the help of a friend. She explained:
"One morning at Flywheel with my friend and dating adviser Pat, I spotted Molly Helfet hanging her jacket in a locker. Her elegant South African husband, Dave, was the chief trauma surgeon at the Hospital for Special Surgery."

After some encouragement from Pat, Couric asked Helfet if she had any single doctor friend. According to the journalist, Helfet flipped through her mental Rolodex. Unfortunately, no single doctor was available, but Helfet confessed that she knew a banker named John Molner.
Dave's wife explained that Molner was not single at the time, but he was a great guy. So, Couric hoped that she would be lucky to find a lover in the banker.

They went on other dates, spending quality time with each other. For the second date, Couric and Molner went drinking at Barbuto. It was a lovely experience.
As expected, they went on a third date, and on the fourth day, Molner met Couric's daughters Carrie and Ellie. After meeting his wife's kids, the journalist returned the favor. During dinner at Red Hat, Westchester, she met the banker's kids, Henry and Allie, who were 17 and 14.

INSIDE THEIR MARRIAGE/HARD TIMES
With their relationship filled with love and going smoothly, it was only a matter of time before Molner popped the question. Eventually, the duo got engaged. They were set to get married when they faced their first difficult situation: Molner was diagnosed with cancer.
It was a terrible experience for the couple, especially for Couric, who lost her first husband to colon cancer. The author said the incident was similar to Monahan's, which greatly affected her.
Thankfully, Molner's illness did not end in death. Although Molner lost 25 pounds and had a massive scar on his abdomen, he recovered fully and proceeded to make plans for the wedding.

The bride donned a Carmen Marc Valvo-designed ivory crystal beaded and embroidered Chantilly lace halter gown for the occasion.
She walked down the aisle with her husband to the Broadway song "Til There Was You," played by a string quartet. It was a memorable occasion witnessed by a few friends and family, including the couple's kids.
