Despite the feud that ensued this past year between Denise Richards and her ex-husband, Charlie Sheen, the former fashion model has been compassionate to her former lover and his ex-wife, Brooke Mueller. She raised their twins for a year before giving up custody.

Denise Richards, a Hollywood celebrity and former fashion model, was the second wife of Charlie Sheen, star of the "Two and a Half Men."

The pair were married for four years before calling it quits in 2006, and they had already welcomed two daughters, Sam and Lola Sheen.

The actor was obligated to pay monthly child support after their divorce, but he filed a lawsuit objecting to the support payment. Last year, the court gave him a fair deal after agreeing that he would discontinue paying child support fees to Richards.

The actor claimed he had primary custody of the kids since April. However, while Richards's side had not submitted any paperwork against the case, they alleged that Sheen owed four years of child support.

Apart from the court drama, the former couple are incredible parents who seek the well-being of their kids. They also have a solid connection with their kids.

An insider mentioned that Richards is in awe of her girls and that Sheen is the good-cop parent who sets no rules; therefore, his daughters see him as the best option to reside with.

CHARLIE SHEEN'S THIRD MARRIAGE TO BROOK MUELLER

After a brutal custody battle with wife number two, Richards, the actor committed to a real estate agent, Brook Mueller.

They married in 2008, and the following year, when they appeared on the red carpets during their attendance to the Emmy Awards, Mueller was already pregnant.

The couple welcomed their twin boys in 2009, and many marveled at the perfect family Sheen appeared to be building. Unfortunately, however, the fairy tale did not last long.

That same year, the actor was arrested on domestic violence-related issues. The twins' mother stated that her husband threatened her with a knife, while Sheen maintained that she was the aggressor.

According to the actor, Mueller was jealous because he shared a song for one of his daughters (Sheen had an older daughter from a previous relationship), so she threatened to divorce him and take their sons.

A short time after the arrest, the couple checked into rehab. They had both battled drug-related issues and needed help.

The former couple also engaged in a continuous battle for their kids' custody, but Mueller was eventually awarded primary custody of the children until 2013.

DENISE RICHARDS SAVES THE DAY

While Mueller checked into UCLA Medical Center, she was worried that Richards might take the kids away, so she insisted that the kids stay with a relative.

However, a concerned Richards appealed to Sheen to have the kids, and the trio made the temporary custody official for a year.

This was not a one-time thing, as the actress was always willing to help whenever the couple needed to combat their demons. She revealed that the boys are part of the family and that her kids love them.

Initially, Sheen blurted his delight in having the twins in a stable home. But in 2015, he made a controversial tweet where he praised Mueller and condemned Richards.

Surprisingly, a few months later, the father of five slammed Mueller with a lawsuit, demanding a reduction of the child support fees, as he did with Richards.

Sheen's actions prove that he can never get tired of going head to head against his ex-wives even though he seeks to have his kids in a stable and sound environment.

UNFAMILIAR TRUTHS FROM DENISE RICHARDS ABOUT THE TWINS

At first, Richards seemed like the hero of the story, but a few months after having the boys, she informed the L. A County Dept. Of Children and Family service of her discontinuation to parent the kids.

She forwarded a letter to the Department, explaining that the twins were violent and could not be controlled. Richards explained that they went into a "zombie-like" state and would often harm the dog, intending to kill it.

This unpleasantness is not directed to the pet alone but also their older siblings. According to Richards, Mueller's sons exhibited violence to her daughters and even extended it to their school teachers.

The actress claimed that pediatricians advised her to take the boys for psychological evaluation, but their mother refused to allow it. To this end, she asked to relinquish the right to care for the boys.

In response to her letter, the Department sought to change her mind following an emergency hearing, but it failed. So they continued to try to reunite the kids with their mother.

UNCLE SCOTT STEPPED IN FOR THE BOYS

At the speed of light, Scott Mueller, Sheen's former brother-in-law, arrived at the court to claim temporary custody of the then 4-year-old twins. The temporary guardian was not new to parenting, as he fathered two kids already. However, Sheen wanted his side of the family to have the boy.

The father of five supported Richards's notion of evaluating the boys, adding that they may have undiagnosed fetal alcohol syndrome. He claimed that Mueller's position would endanger the kids and further condemned the Department's method of handling the issue.

WHAT HAPPENED TO SHEEN'S TWINS AND THEIR MOTHER?

Years after Richards gave up the boys, Mueller took her treatment seriously and was praised by the "Two and a Half Men" star. The actor revealed that she was in the right place and expressed his support for her. According to him:

"I think she's right where she needs to be. I hope she gets the help she needs. We're here when she reaches out. She knows where to find us."

Mueller, who relapsed in 2019, checked into a trauma center on the East Coast voluntarily and was recovering fine.

Before checking into the facility, her sons lived with her in Beverly Hills, but whenever she headed out of town, her mother and stepdad took up the responsibility while living in the same house.
