Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd are two exceptional pros from "Dancing With The Stars," but their love affair was not seamless from the start. Murgatroyd made a confession about loving her husband.

"Dancing With the Stars" pros Maksim Chmerkovskiy and his beloved wife, Peta Murgatroyd, have an admirable romance as perfect as their talents.

This began a few years after their first meeting. It was not love at first sight for the pair, but they managed to make things work irrespective of the challenges.

The couple crossed paths in 2009 and, three years later, became romantically involved. Sadly, barely one year after, their relationship ended.

As fate ordained it, they reunited, got engaged, and started a family with their adorable son. Since then, they have remained a power couple, teaming up as parents and inseparable lovers!

The couple met in 2009 as colleagues on a Broadway performance and later on ABC's dance show "Dancing With The Stars." Then, Chmerkovskiy was engaged to Karina Smirnoff while his future wife dated Damian Whitewood.

Once they were single, they became an item. While recounting their first date, Murgatroyd, a New-Zealand native, gushed at how great her then-lover was and confessed that she was caught unaware.

She stated that they did not have an official date and that Chmerkovskiy asked her to dinner while she was worried about a work-related issue.

When they arrived at the Los Angeles restaurant with an exquisite setting including "fairy light" and "candles," she understood, and the duo had a subtle lovers moment, flirting and sharing a sweet kiss.

Years later, Murgatroyd remains smitten by the not-so-typical first date, and she complimented her husband for exhibiting the traits of a gentleman. In her words:

"He was a gentleman. He was not at all trying to get me into bed or anything like that. He walked me to my door. He was great."

Despite having a great gentleman and sharing the perfect moment, the duo separated after ten months of dating. Chmerkovskiy, a Ukrainian native, ended the relationship two weeks before Valentine's Day.

An insider revealed that Chmerkovskiy, a man easily angered, was bored of his lover, adding that "he wasn't feeling her anymore." Another source explained that Murgatroyd wanted to save the relationship.

During the split, neither of them aired a word to the public. They continued with the professional duties, advancing their careers.

However, a few years after their reunion, Murgatroyd confessed that she was heartbroken but they knew their love story had not ended.

According to her: "My heart was broken. But when we were driving to the airport after the breakup talk, he literally asked me why I was taking all my bags and clothes back. I was like, 'We just broke up. Why would I leave anything behind?' That's when I knew it wasn't really over for forever."

Chmerkovskiy was convinced that the breakup was the wrong move, so he promised to hover around until the right time for a reunion.

The couple dated other people during the short-term breakup for three months. By October 2014, they got back together, and within a year, the Ukrainian planned the proposal that led to their forever. While recounting the split, Chmerkovskiy said:

"I dodged a bullet [by getting her back] because she could have fallen in love with somebody else and this never would've happened."

Nearly everyone around the couple felt their genuine attraction. The "DWTS" star's associate told the world that Chmerkovskiy was happy with Murgatroyd and that she was different from anyone from the Ukrainian's past.

Even though he called off the relationship, the source revealed that Chmerkovskiy admired his lover because of her independent spirit. The insider referred to Murgatroyd as the dancer's "girl," whom he loved being around.

Once they decided that it was far from over, Chmerkovskiy envisioned a future with his lover. In 2015, during a performance at the Olympia Theater, Miami, he proposed with a Cantamessa ring.

The couple excitedly shared the news online, and friends and family weighed in on their engagement. The commenters agreed that they were a match made in heaven, and they added hearty wishes in their remarks.

Many fans had expected a glamorous wedding following the next few months, but the couple postponed their wedding, and several months later, they announced that they would welcome a child.

Welcoming their first child was not planned, but they supported each other throughout the process. Murgatroyd told ET online that they had been cautious, but her fiancé was excited about the news.

She had called him while he was away in Vegas, and after hearing the news, Chmerkovskiy thought it was a joke but promised to call back, which he did.

Within hours, he made it home to celebrate the news, and from then onwards, the "DWTS" pro supported his pregnant wife, who birthed baby Shai in January 2017.

After Shai's birth, the new parents settled into parenthood but always prioritized each other. Despite months of postponement, the couple had their glamorous wedding in a castle with three hundred guests, including family and friends.

The bride was styled in an off-shoulder bridal dress, paired beautifully with her ponytail hairdo tucked in a long veil, while the groom dressed in an all-white three-piece suit.

They initially shared vows in an intimate wedding at New York City Hall before the lavish ceremony. They kept their first wedding discreet until they celebrated their first wedding anniversary when both lovers re-lived the intimate moment!

Years after an admirable romance, and a charming mini-me, Murgatroyd admitted that she never believed they would end up as a pair. In her words:

"I never thought that we were going to be together. "

While recounting their first meeting as Broadway stars of "Burn the Floor," the dancer added that she thought he was arrogant. Somehow, this notion changed once she became familiar with her colleague.

Murgatroyd accepted him following his friendliness and generosity to other co-stars. According to her, "I learned to like him because I found out he wasn't that arrogant. He was really generous to the entire cast, and our friendship grew and grew."

In the same interview, Chmerkovskiy jokingly said that his lover was being defensive, mentioning that she was smitten by him at first glance.

Irrespective of whose story is genuine, the former dance buddies have shown fans that they are a power couple, an inarguable fact considering their love chronicles.
