Couple Adopts 5 Siblings Who Had Been Split Up for Three Years — One Child Lived in 30 Homes
Siblings in the foster care system often dream of being adopted together, but it's not always possible. A group of brothers and sisters were separated for three years when something incredible happened.
Fifteen-year-old Shay had never attended the same school for two years in a row, and the constant moving around left her stressed and anxious.
The young girl had four siblings, and she constantly wondered about them. All five children were waiting to be adopted, but years went by, and they had no luck.

SHE LIVED IN 30 HOMES
One of the siblings had lived in 30 foster homes and never imagined stability in the future—little did she know what was coming!
A couple in Arkansas always knew they wanted to adopt a child and grow their family. Still, they never imagined what would happen when the adoption advocacy group, Project Zero, contacted them.
"WE CAN'T TAKE FIVE KIDS"
Kayla and Jerad Moffitt were contacted regarding a family of five siblings—their lives were about to change forever. After seeing a photo of the children, Kayla shared that her heart melted.
She expressed: "I sent the picture to Jerad, and at that time, we were still like 'we can't take five kids.'"
THE FIVE SIBLINGS WERE REUNITED
Despite their doubts and fears, the couple knew they would never be able to split up the kids. They met for the first time in 2020 and spent a day of fun-filled activities together.
The kids stole Kayla and Jerad's hearts, and the siblings, who were desperate to live together again, were stunned when they received the fantastic news.
KEEPING SIBLINGS TOGETHER
Shay, 15, Aria, 11, Willow, eight, Nia, five, and four-year-old Drew were finally going to be reunited after years apart. They settled into their new home, and the adoption was made official last year.
Now, Kayla urges parents to consider adopting groups of siblings when possible. She added: "We can't speak enough on keeping siblings together."
THE ONLINE REACTION
The mother told people that the need for adoption was real and encouraged others to look into it. Netizens responded to the story and applauded the parents. Many also spoke about the joy of adoption.
One user said: "Adoption is such a blessing for both the children and the parents." Others stated that the story made them emotional, and one commenter wrote: "This made me cry! You guys are a blessing."
ANOTHER JOYFUL SIBLING ADOPTION
Sibling adoptions are rare because parents cannot always take in multiple children. Thankfully, one couple could officially adopt a group of siblings last year. Angela and Elliott Turbeville fostered a family of six kids for two years.
They dreamed about making things official, and just before Christmas in 2021, their dream finally came true. The brood that consisted of five girls and one boy was thrilled with the surprise and grateful to have a forever home.
The Turbeville and Moffitt households are busy and full of life. While things are not always easy, the families would not change anything.
