Gwyneth Paltrow is an actress known for performances in films like "Shakespeare in Love" and "The Royal Tenenbaums." In reaping the rewards of her hard work, including being the lifestyle company founder of Goop, she wanted a place that she could call home.

Paltrow has always been in love with Santa Barbara, California, where she once dreamt of settling down since her college days. Years later, she had her wish granted after finally finishing her dream home, where she now happily lives along with her adorable kids and handsome spouse.

The 49-year-old businesswoman first fell in love with Montecito during her two semesters at UC Santa Barbara before uprooting to pursue her acting career:

"I've always gravitated toward Santa Barbara. Even when I was living in London, we'd take the kids there for holidays. It was our sweet gem of an escape in the US."

Paltrow shares children with her former husband, singer-songwriter Chris Martin. From the beginning of their love story, the pair had a Romeo and Juliet type of romance.

Rumors regarding a relationship between the two first started swirling in 2002, but they had not met each other. Paltrow told the Sun:

"It's funny because people had started writing that we were going out, and we had never even met."

The English native's sense of humor won him the "Iron Man" star. Recounting how they ended up together, Paltrow revealed Martin was in Los Angeles doing a concert, and an actress he had a crush on was supposed to be there.

However, when she did not show up for the event, the lead vocalist of the rock band Coldplay was so disappointed that he introduced Paltrow as his girlfriend. That fired up the speculations that they were an item despite never having spoken to each other.

Martin, 45, and Paltrow eventually crossed paths at another concert. There, the musician's assistant reportedly approached the blonde beauty and asked her to meet him backstage – where they had their eyes fixated on each other across a crowded room and fell instantly in love.

The couple secretly eloped in December 2003. A source confirmed the wedding rumors to People at the time, revealing the pair wed in Santa Barbara, California, on December 5.

Soon after receiving their marriage license at the Santa Barbara County courthouse, Martin and Paltrow exchanged wedding vows. There were no family members, including the bride's mom Danner Blythe at the surprise nuptials, dubbed a whirlwind week for the lovebirds.

A general manager named Alessandro Bandini from New York City's Da Silvano restaurant revealed the couple looked intimate while dining a month before tying the knot. Bandini shared he saw Paltrow gazing at Martin and blushed, adding they acted like a young couple in love.

After having two kids and being married for ten years, the duo filed for divorce. Paltrow revealed that it dawned on her that her marriage was over when she and her husband went away to the Tucson countryside to celebrate her 38th birthday.

She did not recall when it occurred precisely, nor did she remember which day of the weekend it was or the time of day. However, deep down, she knew that despite the long walks and longer lie-ins and hands held, her union was over:

"I had not grown up around a lot of divorce, and the divorce I had been privy to had been bitter, acrimonious, unending. With all of my heart, I did not want that."

Paltrow and Martin divorced in 2016, and their separation was finalized in Los Angeles Superior Court. Neither party paid spousal support, the Associated Press reported.

The couple, who was married for a decade, and had two children together, reportedly reached a deal on finances and custody earlier that year through their business managers and filed for divorce without enlisting attorneys.

After going their separate ways, it did not take too long for Paltrow to fall in love again. Three months after she split with Martin, the Emmy Award winner started dating television writer Brad Falchuck.

The couple first met on the set of "Glee" in 2010, but they had yet to meet. They were introduced to each other four years later and hit it off. Speaking on their instant connection, 51-year-old Falchuk told Harper's Bazaar in January 2020:

"We had similar enough backgrounds – a little bit Jewish, a little bit East Coast, her dad was a TV producer, so we sort of developed this really lovely relationship."

Paltrow and Falchuk went public with their relationship in April 2015, when they stepped out at actor Robert Downey Jr.'s 50th birthday party in California. During that period, a source told People that the pair looked happy.

They even made things official when they tied the knot in September 2018. Surprisingly, Paltrow considered it her first marriage despite getting hitched to Martin:

"I'm excited about everything! I've never had a wedding before. So even though I'm 45, I feel like a 21-year-old."

FOREVER HOME WITH HER BEAU & KIDS

Paltrow and her husband now live in what she calls her forever home, which she built from the ground up. The mom of two discovered the plot for her house during a visit in 2015 when she checked in on Redfin, and therein, she found a generous lot for sale with a teardown but tons of potential.

The "Contagion" star compared the space to Grey Gardens because there were wild animals and swarms of bugs, but that did not matter because she fell in love with the land and its views. She explained her kids were still young and had not married her current spouse at the time:

"The kids were very much younger when I embarked on this project, and I wasn't married to Brad, so I was ideating for a future self that didn't exist yet."

Paltrow's humble abode features contemporary minimalistic and artsy deco finishes. There are black and white tiles with cream white walls when entering through her half-glass door entryway.

In the middle of the entryway, there is a round black table, and on the right-hand side are architect ornaments that fill up space, including a fireplace.

Her dining room is nothing short of a contemporary look with a touch of futuristic modern elements. She has a white dining table that complements her black dining chairs.

The hand-painted wallpapered room features a beige futuristic-looking chandelier with pearls and a reclaimed fireplace. The spacious kitchen consists of built-in white cupboards with an enormous gas stove centered on the kitchen island.

Paltrow opted for a blue Portuguese reclaimed tile as a backsplash for her kitchen to add some texture to the space, which has a farmhouse sink with gold tap accents.

In the dining area, there is a wooden table that matches the wooden floor and a wall display of blue plates that bring a pop of color to the room. One other outstanding feature in the kitchen is a brown rolling ladder.

Paltrow's living room is another well-thought-out space that consists of a large white and gray carpet that complements her large U-shaped couch. Once again, she has two contemporary beige chairs that stand out in the room.

Another feature is her marble design jade bar that has one floating shelf with a gold accent matching the tap sink. One other feature in the room is her gray swing.

According to the "Emma" star, the most incredible part of her home is her very own perfectly lit and spacious spa, which has white robes hung up on the wall. There is a cold plunge with handmade tiles and a hot tub, including steam and a sauna. The space also has oversized gold showerheads.

Photos of Paltrow's house also showed that she was building a gigantic swimming pool. She purchased the property for nearly $5 million in 2016.

Speaking proudly of her finished project, the Los Angeles native said there would always be obstacles for home projects but that one needed to focus on the bigger picture instead:

"There will always be pain points in a project like this, but keep your eyes on the big picture. This house has taught me so much about patience and gratitude. If you commit to design integrity and character, you'll never be sorry."

MOTHERHOOD & FRIENDSHIP WITH EX-HUSBAND

As a mom, Paltrow has a 17-year-old daughter named Apple and a son named Moses, 15. Apple was born on May 14, 2004, and is the spitting image of her mother. She is tall and has a slim figure with long blonde hair.

According to her adoring mom, the teenager is intelligent, has a dry and brilliant sense of humor. Paltrow gave her daughter a birthday shoutout in May 2020 on Instagram, stating that Apple is a hard worker and has grit and responsibility in spades.

Paltrow welcomed her second child Moses on April 8, 2006, who also resembles his parents. While his older sister like teasing their mom, Moses has been more supportive.

The proud mom revealed on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" that her son was proud of his feminist mother for the sex-positive products that she sells on Goop.

During an appearance with TV show host Jimmy Fallon, Paltrow also shared that Moses had become quite the skateboarder amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. On his 15th birthday, his mom posted a tribute sharing that he was the sweetest and most brilliant guy.

Despite Paltrow's divorce from the father of her kids, she and Martin have remained friends and co-parent their brood well. "It's like you're ending a marriage, but you're still in a family. That's how it will be forever," said Paltrow.

"Some days, it's not as good as it looks. We also have good days and bad days, but I think it's driving towards the same purpose of unity and love and what's best for our kids," she continued.

Paltrow even shared a photo of Martin with Falchuk for a Father's Day celebration in June 2020. Her daughter posed alongside her real dad and stepdad, who were all beaming in the snap.
