Before filling readers in on her dilemma, OP described her newborn. Her baby had grayish-brown eyes, a tuft of dark brown hair, and a darker complexion. In contrast, OP had red hair and blue eyes, while her husband was blonde-haired and blue-eyed.

OP's family had dark brown hair and brown eyes, and she owed her red hair to a genetic mutation. She claimed these facts were relevant because her husband never understood genetics despite being a Ph.D. aspirant.

Problems started when OP's husband was convinced that their baby was not biologically related to him. He chalked his speculations up to the baby's darker complexion and began suspecting something was fishy with her paternal roots.

OP told him that she wouldn't be disgruntled if he wanted a paternity test to prove the baby's origins. She was open to the idea because she wanted to keep the peace in their relationship. However, things took a strange turn when her husband told her to take a maternity test as well.

"But for everyone wondering, to sum it up, he is not dumb, and he is not cheating on me. He's just going through a hard time right now," she clarified.
