INSIDE JONATHAN'S MARRIAGE

Jonathan Scott seems to have it better these days, but back in the 2000s, the real estate mogul had it tough with his love life. In 2007, he married airline-crew scheduler Kelsy Ully after a brief courting period.

Their wedding happened fast because Kelsy wanted to tie the knot on a specific date, July 7, 2007. After the ceremony, Jonathan moved to Las Vegas to be with his wife, but things went downhill from there.

Jonathan had been at the early stage of his career in real estate and was actively pursuing progress. Kelsy also worked as a model and waitress. With time, the pair began to grow apart, and this caused a rift.

Kelsy dealt a blow to her husband when she removed him from her relationship status on Facebook. During this time, Jonathan and his twin brother, Drew, landed a sizzle reel shoot in Canada and traveled all the way.

When he returned to Las Vegas, the situation with his wife had gotten worse. The pair tried to save their marriage by seeing a marriage counselor, but it was futile. They ultimately split up, and it did a number on Jonathan's psyche.

Getting divorced was one thing, but handling life after divorce was different for Jonathan. In his joint book with Drew, "It Takes Two: Our Story," the star detailed the impact of divorce on him. He penned:

"The pain ended up outlasting the marriage. The split isn't something I dwell on anymore, but for one too long….'

Jonathan stated that it defined a "too-dark period" of his life and all he did was dwell in the anguish. The illusionist added that the divorce rocked him to his very core.

Along with his heartbreak, Jonathan and his brother also faced money issues. Drew owed $100,000 in a business dealing, and Jonathan also filed for bankruptcy at a point.

Once speaking to People, Jonathan shared that being married was "a huge part" of life. He reminisced about being married for six years and the toll it took because it just didn't work.

While the "Celebrity IOU" star dealt with heartbreak, he was not alone. Drew stood by him, recalling to the news publication that it wasn't easy watching his brother go through a hard time.

He stated that their family was close-knit, and it took a lot when Jonathan moved to Las Vegas. After his divorce, it was a "big thing" to be able to bring him back home and show him the much-needed support. He recalled telling Jonathan:

"I said, 'Nope, you are not sitting at home. Get your butt out here. You're coming with me, and we're hanging out.'"
