Little Boy Says Teachers Taped His Mouth and Threw His Lunch Away, Ordering Him Not to Tell Parents
When a Michigan mom went to pick up her 5-year-old son from preschool, she sensed something was not right. Upon asking, her son revealed that his teachers had taped his mouth.
Selecting a school for one's child can be a very hectic task. Parents always want the best for their children, so they consider every aspect before enrolling their little ones in school. They never settle for less when it comes to their child's wellbeing.
After sending their kids to school, parents feel at ease because they believe their child is safe inside the school's premises. However, sometimes, children aren't safe even under their teacher's supervision.

A REGULAR DAY
Like every other day, Hoda Dannaoui went to pick up her son, Abdul Dannaoui, from Highview Elementary School located in Dearborn Heights, Michigan. Everything was going as planned until Abdul came out of the school building.
Hoda noticed something was not right. She felt something was bothering 5-year-old Abdul because he didn't look as happy as he did every afternoon. Her curiosity made her ask Abdul why he looked disturbed.
His reply came as a shock to Hoda. She had never thought her son would go through something so cruel. He was a high-achiever who was always eager to learn new things, and his teachers had never complained about his behavior. Hoda was stunned to hear what Abdul said happened inside his classroom.
THE BOY'S CLAIMS
When Abdul told his story to Hoda, she was at a loss for words. She couldn't believe the teachers at his preschool would mistreat him. According to Abdul, two of his teachers taped his mouth and threw his lunch in the trash during lunchtime. Hoda said:
"I'm emotionally heartbroken. Disappointed. That's his second home. That's how they treat a child with asthma?"
Abdul also claimed that his teachers made fun of him in front of his classmates and that they had done the same to him at least ten times. The little boy said his teachers put scotch tape on his mouth so he couldn't have his lunch when he had been starving the entire day.

THE MOTHER'S REACTION
While sending her son to the preschool at Highview Elementary School, Hoda thought her child was safe until the day he told her about the strange incident. She said:
"My heart dropped."
After knowing about the incident, Abdul's parents decided to withdraw him from the preschool. They didn't feel comfortable sending their son to a place where he was being mistreated.

MORE DETAILS
According to Abdul, one of the teachers gave him a bracelet and asked him not to tell his parents that she was involved in the incident but that it was the teacher's assistant.
The incident took place on March 26, 2018, and Abdul's family immediately filed a police report. They were appalled because no one from the school told them about the incident.
Soon, the school issued an official statement, but Abdul's parents were still unhappy about it. The statement made it look like their child was not telling the truth.

THE SCHOOL'S RESPONSE
The school didn't consider all of Abdul's claims to be true. They denied the involvement of two teachers. They stated that a substitute teacher assistant was involved, who was immediately suspended. Crestwood School district superintendent, Dr. Laurine VanValkenburg said:
"There have been no other reports of similar incidents. The Crestwood School District does not approve or accept this type of behavior."
When Hoda talked to the school's principal, she told the mother that what happened at the school "was wrong but not a crime." Hoda wasn't satisfied with the response.

CONTRADICTORY CLAIMS
While the school denied the involvement of two teachers, they also said the incident never happened ten times. On the other hand, Abdul assured his mother that he was telling the truth. Hoda said:
"Should I believe my son? Or should I say he's a liar? Something is not right... How is my son not telling the truth?"
The family's attorney, Nabih Ayad, said Abdul wouldn't return to the school until the authorities fired the second teacher involved in the incident.
What would you do if you were in Hoda's place? Do you think the second teacher who was allegedly involved should be punished? Do you believe Abdul was telling the truth?
