Kate Hudson Hoped for 'Millions of Babies' with Older Ex — She Moved in with Him 4 Days after They First Met

There was a time when a 20-year-old Kate fell hopelessly in love with rockstar Chris Robinson. In what played out as a whirlwind romance, the couple wasted no time figuring out how they wanted things to be between them.

The star has had a couple of relationships since then, often combatting commitment issues. Once speaking about the pattern her relationships often took, Kate shared that her experiences with her dad shaped her ideas.

Although she grew up with a father figure in fellow star Kurt Russell, Kate could not shake off the effect of an absentee dad. She is the daughter of Goldie Hawn and music star Bill Hudson.

Kate explained that her father did not attend her wedding, and although she was not angry at him, it did affect her. The "Bride Wars" actress said she was not too fond of intimacy.

The actress experienced a different feeling with Chris, which made their love and romance envelop them such that they were in their own world. She also enjoyed affairs with stars like Owen Wilson, Heath Ledger, and Dax Shepherd.

What Kate and Chris felt for each other in May 2000 when they met at a party was instant and electrifying. It didn't take long for the duo to get so engrossed in their romance and feel wrapped up in their shared warmth. She explained:

"He took me for a walk in the park and held my hand, and I thought, My God, I'm already in love with a man I don't think anybody's going to understand!"

Four days after meeting, the "Fool's Gold" actress moved in with the Black Crowes frontman. In a 2003 interview, the award-winning actress revealed that she understood what she wanted.

It seemed the feeling was mutual with Chris, who gifted her a diamond ring three months into their relationship. At the time, her representative shared publicly that it was "a commitment to their relationship."

Once speaking with the Guardian, Chris explained how he thought he would never be in a committed relationship and how meeting Kate changed his view of things. The star shared:

"I thought, '[expletive] me, life is never going to be the same again.' I'd been wondering what it'd be like to be a bachelor all my life, and then we met and fell in love."

For the couple's first date, the duo enjoyed a wonderful day at Barneys, where Chris offered to buy Kate a $4,000 coat she had been interested in. The actress memorably refused the offer and instead purchased it by herself. She had been concerned that it was just their first date.

The couple made their relationship official on New Year's Eve in the same year. Kate married the love of her life at her mom and Russell's Snowmass home. Their romance was so intense that the celeb couple was never apart for long.

Kate and Robinson have a 12-year age difference, which seemed to pose no problems. Meeting Kate also played a pivotal role in his life. Robinson's life has been riffed with drug abuse and alcoholism.

With Kate, the rockstar took a mellow approach and credited her for helping him clean up. His father, Stan Robinson, once mentioned that the singer indulged in "fewer marijuana" and drinks. Robinson also testified:

"I'm in such a better place as a husband, as a part of a family and a musician."

Marriage for the "Almost Famous" actress and the "She Talks To Angels" singer meant enjoying lovely dates, island getaways, and dinners. The couple also indulged in quiet afternoons at home.

Kate shared that she cooked and knitted while her spouse watched TV. She also stated that they enjoyed each other's company. In the same vein, the stars were conscious of themselves while creating time for each other amid their schedules.

She gushed to People in 2002 that she hoped there would be "millions of babies" in her future with Robinson. The following year, Kate told the same publication that their love could tilt towards volatility.

She described how they were so in love that there were fights that had them hating each other and throwing stuff around. These fights were usually settled with romantic rips. Following the birth of their son. Kate shared:

"We're sharing something so gigantic now. I think it's the best we've ever felt being together."

The "You, Me and Dupree" actress and Robinson welcomed their first child, Ryder Russell Robison, in 2004. The baby's name was inspired by how he would usually kick in the womb when his dad sang an original tune called "Ride," or the song, "I Know You Rider."

Kate and Chris's Marriage Came to an End

After welcoming their son, Robinson and Kate continued soaring in their love, but not for long. In the same year they had Ryder, rumors got out that the marriage was on the verge of ending.

However, the rumors were immediately quelled with a close friend telling people that the couple was "very happy." The source included that they were not going anywhere, and being "true friends" helps them withstand anything.

Six years after their union, Robinson and Kate announced that they were getting separated. The duo also expressed how they had no animosity toward each other.

The "How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days" actress revealed that divorce was tough on both of them, but their son was the main focus. The star, who noted that they were happy parents, added:

"I love Chris to pieces. He's my first huge love. I spent seven years with Chris. I was 20 when I met him. We still talk every day."

These days Kate and Robinson are content being co-parents. The actress never got her wish to have a million babies, but she welcomed two more children from other relationships. The actress once spoke of her expectations after making a family of her own:

"The only expectations I really have that are really high on my life is with my kids and with family stuff. Other than that, it's like, I just let it go. ... I work my a-- off, and then I walk away, and I hope for the best."

She welcomed her son, Bingham, with ex-fiancé Matt Bellamy. Her youngest child, Rani Rose, is from her relationship with her current partner and singer, Danny Fujikawa.
