JOE GORGA YELLS AT A TENANT
On June 13, 2022, Gorga made headlines after TMZ shared a video of him and a tenant in a verbal altercation. According to a report from the outlet, the incident occurred on Thursday, June 9, 2022, a few days before the clip was posted.
In the video shared on TMZ's YouTube page, the "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" star could be seen using a lot of expletives while yelling at the tenant about unpaid rent for one of his properties. Gorga claimed that the man owed him nearly four years of rent.
However, the tenant, whose face was not captured throughout, seemed to bait his angry landlord, as he alleged that Gorga had already been paid after receiving money from New Jersey's COVID relief program.
The tenant further claimed that the reality TV star came at him with a sledgehammer, although the landlord did not appear to have any tool in his hands. At some point, Gorga reached for his phone from his car and began recording while the duo continued the heated argument.
In the end, the tenant drove off, noting that he was headed to the police station to get a restraining order on the real estate mogul.
JOE GORGA DOESN'T REGRET THE VIDEO
Since the video went viral, Gorga has come out to defend his actions, revealing that although he lost it, he has no regrets. On June 15, 2022, TMZ took to Twitter to share a short clip of Gorga explaining his actions.
In the video, the businessman said he could not hold his anger in and wanted the tenant to feel how he made him feel. Gorga explained that he had a family to feed, and business had not been the same since COVID came.
According to Gorga, the tenant was the type of person who liked to take advantage of and scam the system, noting that the man's actions were wrong.
"I just don't do well with people that don't do the right thing in life and don't hustle and don't work and don't try, and so I'm gonna stand by how I handled it," the reality TV star added.
REACTIONS TO GORGA'S VIDEO
Netizens have had mixed feelings and aired their opinions about the viral video. One Twitter user noted that it was best for Gorga to evict and sue the tenant since he owed that much rent. The user also added:
"Like nobody wanna rent from a landlord that's gonna verbally assault their tenants."
Another tweep said she was on Gorga's side, adding that although he could have handled it differently, she understood his actions.
Then, a third user mentioned that Gorga "has no decorum and respect." According to the netizen, being owed so much was not enough reason to speak to the tenant in that manner.
