It is no news that Elliot Page is transgender and feels joyful about his transition decision. He proved that fact when he attended the 2021 Met Gala in an outfit with a hidden meaning. What did Page wear, and what was the meaning? Find out.
Anyone who has followed Elliot Page's life story would know that the Canadian actor and producer was born a girl named Ellen Page.
For years, he played female roles in movies, and many never questioned his sexuality. But in 2014, Page shocked the world when he came out as a lesbian at the Human Rights Campaign.

Six years later, he left many speechless again after he came out as transgender. Since his transition, Page has featured in movies that have allowed him to shine in his preferred sexuality, one of which is the Netflix Series "The Umbrella Academy."
In the first two seasons, Page played the role of Vanya Hargreeves, a female violin player. However, in the recently released third season, the show's creators incorporated the actor's transition, changing his character from Vanya Hargreeves to Viktor Hargreeves.
Page believes he made the right decision regarding his transition, and the actor carries his gender identity with pride and even shows it off during big events.
For example, in 2021, Page made his first appearance at the Met Gala after his transition news, donning an item that celebrated a member of the LGBTQ+ community. Let's take a closer look at his outfit.
WHAT DID ELLIOT PAGE'S GREEN ROSE FROM THE MET GALA MEAN?
On September 14, 2021, Page took to Instagram with pictures of his look for the Met Gala. The actor looked stunning in a slightly oversized black Balenciaga paired with chunky black sneakers.
"The Umbrella Academy" star also added an item with a significant meaning to his outfit — a green rose. Many believe that the rose was an allusion to Oscar Wilde, a queer forefather and Irish poet who was persecuted for his sexuality in the 19th century.
Reports have it that Wilde was imprisoned and died in exile after facing charges of gross indecency and sodomy.

Later, Dr. Andrew Lear, a gay historian, founded Oscar Wilde Tours, a platform that shares the queer culture with the world. On the platform, Lear revealed that Wilde's love for green flowers began in 1892 at the premiere of his play "Lady Windermere's Fan."
According to Lear, Wilde asked one of the actors to wear a green carnation and asked some of his young fans to do the same. So, it is believed that Page's choice of the green rose was indeed significant.
REACTION OF ELLIOT PAGE'S FAMILY TO HIS TRANSITION
In June 2022, Page was a guest on "Late Night With Seth Meyers," and he opened up about his family's reaction to his transition.
The actor made it known that after his revelation that his new name would be Elliot, he had mixed reactions from netizens, but the people closest to him were pleased about it. Page said (via Page Six):
"I feel really grateful for that. Most people weren't surprised. It's something I'd been talking about with many people in my life. "
For Page, what mattered most was that his family and loved ones accepted him wholeheartedly. The actor says he has learned to brush off negative comments, and he is focused on enjoying the joy he feels.
